Eastern Parkway was filled Thursday as people bade farewell to Rabbi Yonah Avtzon OBM, an icon of Crown Heights. Rabbi Avtzon passed away overnight Wednesday night, and due to family flying in, the Levaya was held Thursday morning. As it passed 770, hundreds of community members could be seen accompanying him to his final resting place.
This week, we present a letter of the Rebbe in which he discusses the merit of Jewish names , which helped in our redemption from Egypt. The letter, written originally in English, is from the archives of the Rebbe’s trusted secretary Rabbi Nissan Mindel.
