In four days since the inception of Chabad’s Hurricane Relief Fund by Merkos, $70,000 has been raised and allocated. “The needs are much more severe than we imagined. Although Crown Heights made it through Hurricane Sandy relatively unscathed, many of the surrounding areas have been left devastated. In response, many Crown Heights residents have come together to help.
CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — Frustrated and fed up that the Crown Heights neighborhood has been crime’s ‘punching bag’ this past week, the Shomrim Patrol put out a number of additional patrols to cover the neighborhood. Last night it paid off with the apprehension and arrest of a car burglar.
The Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, the site where the Kinus Shluchims banquet was scheduled to be held, was damaged by the floods from Hurricane Sandy and the organizing committee was notified that it would not be available for the banquet – scheduled to take place in a week from now.
