Neighborhoods in lower Manhattan began celebrating by dancing and clapping when the lights suddenly came back on Friday night and Saturday. Chanting “let there be light” and “happy new year!” some can be overheard stating that they will finally take an elevator ride.

Bochurim Blackmailed by Denial of Winter Coats

For many years now, the Kupas Bochurim of the Yeshiva in 770 has been distributing hats, jackets and coats to the hundreds of students, most of whom come from Israel and lack suitable winter attire. This distribution has been funded by Sholom Ber Drizin of Crown Heights.

Shomrim Patrol Nabs Midnight Car Burglar

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — Frustrated and fed up that the Crown Heights neighborhood has been crime’s ‘punching bag’ this past week, the Shomrim Patrol put out a number of additional patrols to cover the neighborhood. Last night it paid off with the apprehension and arrest of a car burglar.

The marathon that once brought New York City’s people together for 40 years has come to a screeching halt because of the backlash it is receiving in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. The NYC Marathon drew 45,103 runners in 2010 and is one of the largest marathons in the world.
