Chabad.org will host a four-part online course on consecutive Tuesdays starting Aug. 20 titled R-E-S-P-E-C-T: The Commandment That Shapes the Parent-Child Relationship. Chof Av (20 Av) is a day that was very dear to the Rebbe’s heart. On this day in 1944, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, the Rebbe’s saintly father, passed away while in exile for spreading Torah Judaism in Soviet Russia. Presented here is a unique presentation, created this year, that provides a glimpse into the story of Reb Levik’s life. The video features a firsthand story of Reb Levik, as well as highlights of Chof Av by the Rebbe – leading the prayers in his father’s memory, singing his father’s niggun, and drawing a lesson from his exile.

The tefillin (phylacteries) of slain IDF soldier Benny Hanani, who fell in Tal Saki in the Golan Heights during the Yom Kippur War, remained in a closet for 46 years, together with the notebook with songs which was discovered after his death. New Jersey’s right-to-die law just went into effect earlier this month but now a judge has halted it after a Bergen County doctor opposed it. Judge Paul Innes of Superior Court in Mercer County sided the opposition, and has issued a temporary restraining order on the law.
