Chabad.org will host a four-part online course on consecutive Tuesdays starting Aug. 20 titled R-E-S-P-E-C-T: The Commandment That Shapes the Parent-Child Relationship. Presented by Rabbi Raleigh Resnick, director of Chabad of the Tri-Valley in Northern California, the course will walk students through the reasons, parameters and ramifications of the Fifth Commandment, the requirement to honor parents.

A 21-year-old Lubavitch Bochur R”L drowned on a beach in Mexico. It happened on a beach on the island of Cozumel, a mostly undeveloped Mexican island in the Caribbean Sea. The island is famed for its scuba diving. The victim is a resident of Be’er Sheva.
Anti-Semitic Fliers Blanket Ridgewood Street
Police are investigating an incident of anti-Semitism in Ridgewood after residents discovered hundreds of obscene flyers bearing anti-Semitic language near an entrance to the Halsey Street L station in Ridgewood on Wednesday evening.
JEM: Chof Av – A New Presentation To Connect and Learn
Chof Av (20 Av) is a day that was very dear to the Rebbe’s heart. On this day in 1944, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, the Rebbe’s saintly father, passed away while in exile for spreading Torah Judaism in Soviet Russia. Presented here is a unique presentation, created this year, that provides a glimpse into the story of Reb Levik’s life. The video features a firsthand story of Reb Levik, as well as highlights of Chof Av by the Rebbe – leading the prayers in his father’s memory, singing his father’s niggun, and drawing a lesson from his exile.

Tefillin from Golan Heights Battle Given to Lone Soldier
The tefillin (phylacteries) of slain IDF soldier Benny Hanani, who fell in Tal Saki in the Golan Heights during the Yom Kippur War, remained in a closet for 46 years, together with the notebook with songs which was discovered after his death. Eventually, Hanani’s family decided to donate his tefillin to a lone soldier serving in as an IDF paratrooper, as part of the project “1000 Pairs of Tefillin for Soldiers.”

In an inspiring event, the Chabad Shteible at 41 Flood street, in Bondi, Sydney Australia, held this years first farbrengen for Chof Av. The Rebbe’s head Shliach to NSW, Australia, Rabbi Pinchus HaCohen Feldman, spoke at length about the great self sacrifice of Reb Levi Yitzchok, the Rebbe’s father, and his own impressions from the amazing Kibbud Em the Rebbe had for his mother Rebbetzin Chana.
Jewish Doctor Gets Temporary Restraining Order on NJ Right-To-Die Bill
New Jersey’s right-to-die law just went into effect earlier this month but now a judge has halted it after a Bergen County doctor opposed it. Judge Paul Innes of Superior Court in Mercer County sided the opposition, and has issued a temporary restraining order on the law. Though not required to participate, doctors are required to refer patients to another doctor, which Smith said his client did not want to do.

A Chareidi father was reported missing Monday night, after he and a friend went swimming at a Tel Aviv beach. The incident occurred after two young men went swimming together near the Dolphinarium. One of them came out of the water and reported that his friend had disappeared.
