Chabad Teacher Stabbed to Death in Russia

St. Petersburg, Russia — A Russian Jew has been stabbed to death in northern St. Petersburg, members of the city’s Jewish community told Ynetnews.

Dimitri Nikoulinsky, 22, was found dead with knife wounds to his throat by his mother minutes after the assault, his friend said.

Two members of the Jewish community said the attack was “exactly” like other lethal assaults carried out by neo-Nazi groups against foreign students and an anti-fascist activist, and are convinced that the attack was a hate-crime.

Yidden Arrested for Assisting in the Arrest of a Gang of Robbers

Crown Heights, Brooklyn –- In an unprecedented attack on vigilant and concerned residents of our community that are passionate about our safety, Police held two Yidden for allegedly beating a suspect.

The incident began in front of 770 Eastern Pkwy when a group of 3 Black males and 1 Black female assaulted and robbed a young Latino teen, the group shoved him to the ground and took his backpack, then attempted to flee the scene.

Knife Mugging on Carroll Street

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — This past Thursday, April 26th, a Bochur walking home on Carroll St between Troy and Schenectady was mugged by a Black male wielding a knife. The incident took place at around 2:00am, the Bochur was approached by a Black male, average height and described to be around 20 years of age, and he pulled a knife on the Bochur and demanded his wallet and cell phone, then told the Bochur to start walking towards Troy Ave.

The moment the Bochur turned around, he heard the mugger start running in the other direction. He began chasing him while calling police on another phone that he had on him. The short pursuit ended when the mugger ran into 1625 President St. a building located on the corner of President and Schenectady.

Shoplifter Apprehended Erev Shabbos

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — At 5:45pm on Erev Shabbos Shomrim received a call from the Kingston Bargain Center, that they had apprehended a shoplifter. Numerous Shomrim members arrived on scene with moments of the call, and a quick search of the shoplifter yielded a set of cutlery she had put in her bag and walked out of the store with.

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — Tuesday, Shortly before 9:00pm a Yungerman on his way home was accosted on President St between Kingston and Albany aves by three young teens. They snatched his cell phone from his hand while he was talking on the phone, then the Yungerman without hesitation screamed “Chaptzem” and began pursuing the robbers.

When they reached the intersection of Crown and Albany a large crowd of Yidden had joined in the pursuit and surrounded two of the three perpetrators, one of which was a Black male and the other an Asian male. The third one, a Black male, managed to slip away and flee into 742 Montgomery St, a predominantly Jewish building located on the corner of Albany Ave.

iPod Robbed on Eastern Parkway

Brooklyn, NY — At about 5 pm Erev Shabbos, two girls walking home from the Brooklyn Public Library on Eastern Pkwy were robbed of an iPod. The girl who was listening to her iPod, took it out of her pocket to switch songs when it was snatched from her hand.

Paris, France — A rabbi was insulted and attacked Thursday morning at the Paris North train station by a young man who beat him.

New Wave of Car Break-ins Hits Crown Heights

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — Over the last two days of Yom Tov more then 5 cars had been broken into, CrownHeights.info received a few reports that there were three break-ins within our immediate neighborhood and a few further out.

One car was hit on Union St between Kingston and Albany while another was broken into on Clove Road between Malbone and Montgomery. These particular incidents the perpetrator used a flat head screwdriver to break the windows and in both incidents the contents of the glove box were emptied and rummaged through, yet nothing was taken. In one of the cars there was GPS device in the glove box and the perpetrator handled it, yet did not take it.

Police Apprehend Suspected Burglar – Confesses to Numerous Break-ins

Brooklyn, NY — Monday, Erev Yom Tov, Police responded to a call of a burglary in the rear of the houses on Carroll between Albany and Troy. On scene, residents came out to see the suspect attempting to flee on the rooftops of the garages in the alleyway, only to be met by a dead end alleyway, which was when he turned around and began hoping the roofs back into the other direction where he ran right into the hands of a responding police officer.

Pursuit of a Stolen Car ends with a Crash

Brooklyn, NY — Officers from the Brooklyn South Task Force [BSTF] began perusing a silver Nissan Altima that was reported stolen on Empire Blvd at around 9:00pm this evening, the pursuit ended when the Nissan rear ended a red Toyota at a very high rate of speed at the intersection of Empire and Albany. The driver of the Nissan then exited the vehicle and began fleeing on foot, only to be apprehended less then a block away by other police officers.

Brazen Burglary Shabbos Afternoon

Brooklyn, NY — This past Shabbos a very professional and brazen burglary took place on Montgomery St between Brooklyn and New York mid afternoon. The family came home after a routine visit they do on Shabbos afternoon between 1:00pm and 3:00pm to find their house ransacked, cash, jewelry and electronics were taken.

The incident was reported to the police and an investigator was immediately assigned to the case. Evidence Collection Team that responded in order to gather evidence such as fingerprints and the likes quickly noted that the burglar or burglars used gloves. The investigator commented that this was a very professional burglary, one that they haven’t seen in quite some time in the neighborhood.

Motzoai Shabbos Attempted Car Break-in

This past Motzoai Shabbos Shomrim received a call for a car that had just been broken into in a garage in the back yard of a resident. The incident took place on Lefferts Ave between Albany and Troy at around 9:30pm when a resident heard his neighbors car alarm go off in the garage behind the house, he quickly went outside to take a look and found that a stick had been used to break the car window and attempt and gain entry into the car.

Basement Ransacked on President Midday

Brooklyn, NY — This past Friday a very disturbing incident took place, a basement on President St between Kingston and Albany was broken into, ransacked and had items of value stolen from it. The Shomrim hotline received a call at around 3:30pm from one of the tenants in the basement that her basement was just robbed. Numerous units responded to find the place turned over.

Stolen Car Prompts Large Police Activity

Brooklyn, NY — Thursday night at around 9:30pm a man who had parked his car on the corner of President St and Albany Ave watched an older model Toyota Camry, driven by a few black youths, reverse into his car and damage it then attempt to flee the scene. The owner of the car immediately approached a police car which was stationed on that corner and told them what had happened.

The officers then got out of their car and approached the Toyota which prompted all its occupants to flee, two Bochurim who were just exiting the alleyway on the block watched the youths fleeing and stopped on of them by tripping him to the ground and holding him for police.

Attempted Mugging/Assault on Lincoln Place

Brooklyn, NY — Just a few days after we reported the assault and mugging on Lincoln Pl. between Kingston and Albany another attempt took place this past evening. A resident who lives on the block was on his way home at around 9:40pm on Tuesday night when all of a sudden he was approached by two black youths from behind who pulled his scarf off, and upon seeing the face of their would be victim the two fled.

The man immediately called 911 and Shomrim both of which responded right away, police officers from the 77th precinct took a report while numerous Shomrim members patrolled the area. According to the would be victim, he said that he thought that these perpetrators live in the building on the block or somewhere in the vicinity because he though that they had recognized him and therefore left him alone.

Car Vandalized Over Shabbos

Brooklyn, NY — On Friday night a car was vandalized on Montgomery Street between Albany and Troy while parked in its owner’s alleyway. Neighbors said that they saw two people running away from the vicinity after hearing a series of pops, which they said sounded like someone was ‘banging on a door’.

The vehicle sustained significant damage including a shattered windshield from what appears to be a hammer, as well as shattered head lamps and rear window. The vandals did not stop at that, they brought along with them two paint cans, one white and one red and poured it all over the exterior and interior of the car.
