Nelson Arrested Again and Again and Again

Terrance Nelson, the single most known criminal who has been terrorizing the neighborhood for over 4 years, has been arrested late Wednesday night after being caught breaking into a car on Carroll Street.

Group Throws Rock at School Bus, Shomrim Apprehend, Police Release

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — A school bus dropping off Beis Rivkah school girls, had a rock thrown at it as it was driving on President Street. Thank G-d no one on the bus was hurt. The incident took place at around 4:00pm between Kingston and Brooklyn.

A number of Shomrim members responded and began following the group of 4 Black teens down President. While the bus driver identified the group, Shomrim then called 911 and had police respond.

Shomrim Nab Would-Be Burglar Erev Shabbos

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Shomrim members checked out a call for a sighting of Terrence Nelson, the one accused of terrorizing vehicle owners in Crown Heights, and consequently encountered a much more serious call just across the street.

A Bochur approached one of the members who was staking out the alleyway while others were inside checking it and alerted him to a Black male who was climbing onto the back porch of a Montgomery Street home.

Teen Hurls Glass Bottle at Bus Injuring Passengers

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — A routine ride on the Community Council’s Crown Heights – Boro Park bus took a turn for the worse this afternoon. A glass bottle was hurled at the bus, going right through one of the windows and striking two of the passengers, injuring them. One passenger described the scene to CrownHeights.info; “I heard a loud bang and then women started screaming. I was petrified…”

The incident took place as the bus was driving past Empire Boulevard and Balfour Place, at around 3:50pm. A group of three black youths, described as two females and one male in their early teens, threw a glass bottle at the bus striking it and causing damage and injuring passengers.

New Rash of Car Break-ins, Nelsons M.O. at Play

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Nelsons signature returns alongside a new rash of auto break-ins. Over Shabbos a car was broken into on Montgomery Street and a portable navigation unit was stolen and on Sunday night another car was broken into on Albany Avenue and Empire Boulevard. Each of these incidents had Crown Heights’s most notorious auto larcenist, Terrence Nelson, signature all over it.

Surveillance Video of the Thief who Stole the Sefer Torah

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — The theft of a Sefer Torah, valued at over $40,000, shook Crown Heights last week, many different newspapers and TV stations covered the incident along with the plea to help have it returned.

A number of people made an absurd accusation that the theft had been committed by someone who was Jewish, with the reasoning that only a Jew would know the value of a torah. But police were able to pull surveillance footage from two security cameras on the block.

Sefer Torah Stolen from Car Overnight

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — A Sefer Torah was stolen out of a parked car last night. The incident took place in front of 1723 Union Street which is between Schenectady and Utica Avenues, after was the car was parked, which was around 11:00pm, and was discovered at around 10:45 this morning.

Shomrim received the call from the driver of the car informing them of the theft and asked for their help with what to do. After arriving on scene Shomrim called 911 and had police respond to the location to take a report and gather evidence in hopes of recovering the Torah, which has a stated value of $40,000.

NEWS12 On the Anti-Semitic Graffiti in the Subway

CROWN HEIGHTS – Police say anti-Semitic graffiti was found scrawled along the walls of a Crown Heights subway station.

According to police, the graffiti at the Kingston Avenue train station had an image equating the Jewish Star of David to a swastika. The graffiti also made a reference backing Hamas after Israel’s recent incursion into the Gaza Strip.

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — At around 10:30 this morning, Wednesday, a MTA commuter called Shomrim and alerted them to a number of hate graffiti on the subway platform. The graffiti consisted of a Jewish Star of David being equated to a swastika and the words “long live hamas” underneath it.

Intruder in Bais Rivkah, Police Take 30 Minutes to Respond

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — A teacher had her cell phone stolen and her purse rummaged through by an intruder inside of Bais Rivkah high school in Crown Street. The disturbing incident took place at around 12:45pm on Tuesday where a teacher spotted a black man with a light complexion and white hair and a large build who did not work for the school roaming around the hallways on the second floor.

Child Molested in Crown Heights Mikvah

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — At 4:12pm, Friday, Erev Shabbos, a child called the Shomrim hotline asking for help. The child stated that he was just molested at the Empire Shtibel Mikvah and the perpetrator was still in the Mikvah.

Numerous Shomrim members arrived on the scene within seconds. After speaking to the child, they requested for Police to further investigate. The members had the suspect, a 23 year old Israeli, wait for Police.

As Murder Rate in City Goes Up, CH Suffers its First of ’09

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — On Thursday, January 1st, Crown Heights suffered its first murder of 2009. It happened at 347 Maple St, between New York and Nostrand Ave. Police responded when someone called 911, saying there was an unconscious male at the location. Upon arrival the police found an unresponsive black male in his 60’s on the floor.

EMS pronounced the victim dead at the scene and transported him to the medical examiner. The ME’s office released in a statement, 67 years old Delinor Dorissaint was murdered at his home Thursday. NYPD detectives are still investigating why and who murdered him.

Jewish Man Shot with BB Gun Opening Door

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — A Jewish resident was shot earlier this evening with a BB gun as he was opening the door to his home on Montgomery Street. The incident took place at around 5:30pm between Troy and Schenectady Avenues.
