He made a quick call to police and Shomrim elicited their response. A police report was filed. While filling out the report, officers told the victim and Shomrim that they have been seeing a number of these kinds of burglaries; where the burglar gets comfortable and comes back a number of times into storage areas and takes things, though they have all happened in the areas of Utica and Union.
The building housed only two families, both Jewish, and the resident said he did seem out of place but he was able to get in and out with it appearing like he belonged. Turns out the front door did not close all the way and he was able to open it by just pushing in.
Residents are urged to keep an eye out for people that don’t belong and to make sure doors close all the way and lock properly.
In case of an emergency never hesitate to call 911 and Shomrim at (718) 774-3333 24/7
