Video: Tire Thieves in Action

A home security surveillance video caught footage of the thieves who made off with a minivan’s tires on President St. two days ago. The thieves can [barely] be seen in the top right corner of the video, arriving in what seems to be a black Nissan or Infinity. They arrived in two trips, taking the left tires first and then returning for the right ones. The theft occurred between 2:00 and 5:00am.

Labor Day Violence Gets Early Start

Crown Heights [CHI] — Gunfire broke out today just as police, organizers and food vendors began to fill Eastern Parkway in preparation for tomorrow’s enormous West Indian Day Parade. A man was shot in the hand at 1919 Eastern Parkway at 2:20pm, near the corner of Buffalo Avenue at the edge of Lincoln-Terrace (AKA Rochester) Park.

Video: Man Attempts to Break into Jewish Home

A middle-aged African-American male was caught on surveillance video attempting to force his way into a Jewish residence. At about 2:00am last night, the suspect approached the home on Montgomery St. and blocked the peephole with a “Shir Hamaalos” card. Luckily, the inhabitants decided not to open the door; there is no telling what he intended to do if the door had been opened.

Shomrim Volunteer’s Car Torched

Crown Heights [CHI] — A member of the Crown Heights Shomrim volunteer patrol woke up this morning to find that his car had been torched. A burning substance had been tossed between the windshield and the hood, incapacitating the car and causing substantive exterior damage.

Shooting Interrupts Shabbos Afternoon Prayers

Congregants of Frankel Shul – located on President St. between Utica and Rochester Ave. – were interrupted amid their Shabbos afternoon prayers when gun shots rang out right outside the Shul where the children were playing.

Tire thieves strike again – five days later. An SUV parked on Lefferts Avenue was the latest victim of the tire thieves. Once again, all four tires and rims were removed and the vehicle was left on two cinder-blocks.

Teens Caught on Surveillance Stealing Bicycles

Surveillance video caught three African-American teenagers trespassing into a condo-apartment building and leaving moments later with two bicycles. The building, located on Brooklyn Ave. between East New York and Maple St., is predominantly Jewish.
