A tutor working in boy’s schools in Crown Heights was arrested last week and charged with a number of heinous crimes, including child molestation and endangerment. Neighborhood schools release statements on his arrest.
With great sadness we inform you of the untimely passing of Hatomim Yehudah Shmuel Maimon, OBM, son of the well-known Lubavitcher radio broadcaster Reb Ami Maimon of Chulon, Israel. He passed away mere days after celebrating his Bar Mitzvah.
Crown Heights Shomrim and the NYPD have begun an extensive search for a missing family who have not been heard from or seen since January 31st 2015. Authorities are seeking information regarding the whereabouts of the Kutsy family along with their two daughters.

Rabbi Alexander and Leah Namdar, Chabad Shluchim in Sweden, will be tried today, Tuesday, by the Gothenburg Municipality for the alleged ‘crime’ of homeschooling their 11 children, due to the lack of Jewish schools in the area.

Explosions and gunshots rang out and smoke rose from Hyper Cacher – the kosher supermarket in Paris where a gunman working in tandem with the two Charlie Hebdo attackers held several hostages. French special forces stormed the building and killed the hostage taker. Images show several hostages – more than the 5 or 6 reported – escaping alive from the supermarket. Sadly, French media have confirmed that 4 of the hostages were killed.
Two separate hostage situations are currently unfolding in France. The first is in central Paris in the heart of the Jewish community, where 5 hostages were reportedly taken inside a Kosher supermarket – Hyper Cacher. The lone hostage-taker is said to be wielding two AK-47 rifles, and is believed to be the gunman who killed a female police officer in Paris yesterday.
With temperatures expected to be dangerously cold beginning Tuesday through Thursday, Mayor de Blasio today issued an update on the frigid temperatures, urging New Yorkers to take steps to protect themselves and help others who may be at increased risk of health problems.
