Boruch Dayan Hoemes: Reb Shmuel Marmulszteyn, 74, OBM
With great sadness and pain we inform you of the passing of Reb Shmuel Dov HaCohen Marmulszteyn OBM, a longtime resident of Crown Heights. He was 74 years old.
Reb Shmuel came to Crown Heights after his Bar Mitzvah in 1953. Originally from Brazil, his parents could not find a suitable Yiddishe Yeshiva for him and after much searching they decided on Tomchei Temimim on Bedford and Dean in Brooklyn.
Choosing to remain and settle in Crown Heights he married his wife Leah and raised his family on Sterling Street, all of whom turned to public service and serve as Shluchim around the world. He was also a long time member of Community Board 9 where he diligently attended board meetings.
He passed away on Shabbos morning Parshas Beshalach after battling an illness.
He is survived by his wife Leah and their children Aharon Tzvi Marmulszteyn (New Jersey), Levi Yitzchok Marmulszteyn (Monsey, NY), Rivka Galzman (Riga, Latvia), Avrohom Boruch Marmulszteyn (Brooklyn, NY) and Menachem Mendel Marmulszteyn (Toronto, Canada).
The Levaya will take place Sunday, and will leave from Shomrei Hadas at 12:00pm and passing by 770 at around 12:45pm. The Kevurah will be in the Old Montefiore Cemetery at 1:30pm.
