Measles Outbreak in the Frum Community
Following an exciting holiday season with lots of traveling around the world, a virus has made its way back into the United States, and into the frum community in particular. Six cases of the measles have been reported in Williamsburg, hospitalizing at least one, and 11 cases have been confirmed in Rockland County.
Boro Park Cabby Given a $15,000 Bail
Cabby that beat Lipa Schwartz, 62, in Boro Park which caused officials to demand better policing of hate crimes, has been given a $15,000 bail option. Coincidentally, the judge who presided over his hearing was Ruchie Frier, a frum Judge and leader of Ezras Nashim, the all woman first response organization.
Chabad of Hunterdon County Breaks Ground
Last week, the county’s Jewish residents broke ground on a $4.7 million Jewish community center. The 17,000-square-foot Yakov and Hava Telyas Chabad Jewish Center facility, featuring a synagogue, social hall, library and kosher kitchen, will go up on ten acres of land acquired by Chabad in 2014.
Weekly Letter: “The Idea of Monotheism”
In keeping with these parshios of Avraham our patriarch, the first to teach and spread the concept of monotheism to the world, we present a letter in which the Rebbe explains – in clear and practical terms – the idea of monotheism to a chiropractor. The letter, written originally in English, is from the archives of the Rebbe’s trusted secretary Rabbi Nissan Mindel.
New Shluchim to Southern Utah
Rabbi Mendy and Chaya Cohen, and their two young children, are setting up shop in St. George. Located at the southwestern border, St. George is a two-hour drive from the Jewish community of Las Vegas. It’s not a big move for Chaya: the twenty-two year old grew up four hours north in Salt Lake City where her parents, Rabbi Benny and Sharonne Zippel, are Chabad representatives. For Mendy, a Montreal native, the city’s topography and year-round warm weather are a pleasant change.
Here’s My Story: No Half and Half
Mine was not an auspicious beginning. I was born in Vilna in the midst of World War Two, just a week before the German bombardment of the city began in 1941. It was difficult to assemble a minyan for my circumcision, as everyone was scared to come outdoors and, thereafter, my parents had to hide me in an orphanage while they fled the Nazis.
Torah Treasure Presents “Parsha Time”
A new fun sing along DVD that makes learning the Parsha a joy for kids and parents alike! When deciding what content to create next, Producer Chaim Hershkowitz knew that it would have to be about the Parshios. “I knew it was time to create something that was new, fresh and upbeat.” With that goal, Chaim’s first choice was Chanaleh Fellig-Harrel; who has written songs for him in the past. Yosef Karduner Back in Crown Heights
Yosef Karduner, world famous musician and performer, will be coming to Crown Heights this Motzei Shabbat (Saturday, October 20th). Karduner played for a packed house in Crown Heights venues in the past. The show received largely positive reviews and due to the demand, a new show has been planned for this year, at Wine by the Case (511 Empire Boulevard)

Site of New Hebron Neighborhood Was Purchased By Chabad In 1909
The Israeli cabinet this week approved the establishment of a new neighborhood for Jewish residents of Hebron. The decision gives Israelis living in caravans permission—a first after sixteen years—to build new homes in Hebron. The 99,000 square foot lot of the new neighborhood was part of a piece of land purchased by Chabad in 1909.

A new single debut by Crown Heights singer Peretz Chein truly comes from the heart. Written while undergoing a serious medical procedure, it shows that Simcha can actually break boundaries.
Rocket From Gaza Hits Home in Beer Sheba
A rocket fired from the Gaza Strip overnight Tuesday exploded near a home in the southern Israeli city of Be’er Sheva. Magen David Adom paramedics gave medical treatment to a woman about 50 years of age and a 40-year-old man who suffered light injuries while running to a protected area. In addition, a 20-year-old woman who suffered from shock was evacuated to the Soroka Hospital.
