TRAGEDY: Boruch Dayan Hoemes – Devorie Neuwirth OBM

With great sadness and deep pain we inform you of the tragic and extremely untimely passing of Devorie (Rochel Devorah Nechama Bas Sara) Neuwirth of Montreal, Canada, mother of 4 children, at the young age of 41 after battling a terminal illness for over a year.

Devorie is survived by her husband, Zevi and four children, Motki, Chavee, Yehuda, and Rumi.

The Levaya will take place at 8:30am at Anshei Lubavitch on Trans Island in Montreal and the burial will be in the Old Montefiore Cemetery at 4:00pm in Queens.

AUSTRALIA — According to media reports, the findings of a review into ritual slaughter, which have been leaked, will allow shechitah to continue, even though Australian standards require that animals be electrically stunned immediately after ritual killing.

Shechitah, or Jewish ritual slaughter, has historically been asserted as the most humane method of killing animals for food.
