Shooting on Subway Platform

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [NBC] — A teenager was in serious condition Monday after being shot at a subway station in the Crown Heights.

The boy was waiting for the 4 train on the mezzanine at the Utica Avenue stop when gunfire broke out, wounding him. Police said the shooting occurred at around 5:21 p.m.

Shomrim Apprehend 3 Muggers, Police Let Them Go and Instead Arrest a Shomrim Member

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — At around 9:00am a Jewish resident walking to his car was jumped by a group of 5 Black juveniles who assaulted him and robbed him of his cell phone. The resident immediately called out for help and Shomrim were called.

The incident took place on Kingston Avenue and East New York Avenue, when the cries for help were heard, shoppers came out of the ‘Shuk’ and chased the teens while calling Shomrim.

Within moments a large number of Shomrim arrived on scene and managed to apprehend two of the five muggers, on Lefferts Avenue between Kingston and Brooklyn, and another one in the backyards of a few homes between East New York and Lefferts, and held them until police arrived. The situation turned south from there, and ended with the arrest of a Shomrim member and the release of all the suspects.

Arabs Scream ‘Allah Hu Akbar’ and Beat a Bochur

PARK SLOPE, Brooklyn [CHI] — A Lubavitcher Bochur became the victim of a blatant hate crime Tuesday evening at around 6:15pm in Park Slope. The incident unfolded inside the subway station on 4th Avenue and 9th Street, which is in the confines of the 78th Precinct, where a Middle Eastern looking teen snatched the Bochur yarmulke from behind and fled out of the station.

The Bochur, who on his way into the station notice a group or four teens sitting on the steps of the subway entrance, did not hesitate and began perusing his yarmulke snatcher, all the while just a few feet behind yet not managing to catch him. The pursuit continued right passed the sitting group and out into the street, where it came to an abrupt halt.

Boy Attacked in Broad Daylight on Eastern Parkway

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — A boy walking to his home on Lincoln Place, from school this afternoon, Monday at around 2:15pm was attacked by a group of four Black males on Eastern Parkway close to the Troy Avenue inetsection. The group appeared to the victim to be around his own age around 12 to 15 years old.

One of the group shoved the boy to the ground and told him to empty his pockets and hand it to him, which he did, producing just some scraps of paper and nothing of value. The group then fled, apparently because someone saw them and scared them off.

Shomrim Apprehend Shoplifter

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Around 3:30 this afternoon Shomrim received a call for a shoplifter being held inside the Kingston Avenue Bargain Center. Numerous units responded and secured the scene and called police.

Convicted Rapist Attempted to Break into an Apartment

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — While men were still in Shul on Friday night one resident found a perpetrator in the lobby of a building, attempting to break in to an apartment on Carroll Street and Kingston Avenue, when the resident confronted the intruder he attempted to reason with him and produced an ID card from the Department of Corrections.

Another resident in the building, who is a Shomrim member, walked out of his apartment and into the scene, the perp then managed to break free and flee the building. The resident then handed the Shomrim member the ID card and upon closer examination the card detailed the reason of the perps incarceration, rape.

Stolen Car Prompts Massive Police Response

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] – A car with plates that came back as a stolen vehicle prompted a large police response. The incident began at 6:15pm today, Wednesday on Empire Boulevard and Bedford Avenue where a police van spotted the vehicle and ran its plates which came back as stolen.

Bochur Assaulted on Brooklyn Ave

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Monday night at approximately 11:00pm, a Bochur on his way home from a wedding was accosted by 2 Black teens on Brooklyn Ave, between Sterling St and Lefferts Ave.

The teens, described as being about 18 years of age, approached him from behind, one grabbed him and held him while the other hit him a few times and scratched his face.

Strong-armed Carjacking of a DHL Van

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] – At around 2:15 Tuesday afternoon, a DHL delivery van was carjacked in Crown Heights. The driver was assaulted, dragged from the van, and the perpetrators fled with the van. The incident took place on Crown Street between Nostrand and Rogers Avenues behind the Medger Evers College.

Daily News – Teen’s Beating Probed as Hate Crime

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn — Cops are investigating the beating of a 16-year-old Yeshiva student in Brooklyn as a possible hate crime.

Samuel Balkany was on his way to a friend’s house in Crown Heights about 10:30p.m. Friday when five black teenagers threw him against the fence of a house, yelled anti-Semitic epithets and beat him, police and Samuel said.

“They pushed me so I was leaning on the gate, and five guys were knocking me out for five minutes,” Samuel, who is Lubavitch Hasidic, said last night. He said the teens yelled, “F—— Jew. It’s our neighborhood. We’re going to kill you, little Jew.” Bleeding from his head, Samuel went to his friend’s house and then to Kings County Hospital.

Vandals Strike Jewish Cemetery

At least 57 tombstones in a large Jewish cemetery outside Norridge were defaced with anti-Semitic slogans last weekend in a vandalism spree that caused at least $100,000 in damage, Cook County police said.

Two Cars Vandalized Following Road Disputes

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — This morning a Crown Heights resident was shocked to find two tires on her car slashed in addition to an obscenity scratched into the paint on the driver’s side door, the car was parked on Kingston Avenue between East New York and Lefferts Avenue.

The incident if following a road incident near her home where another driver claimed that she had struck his vehicle and demanded she pay him, police were called to the scene and determined that there is no grounds to his claim, and that there was no collision. The driver began yelling at cops and then drove off.
