3 Car Accident on Albany Ave

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — Yesterday at about midnight a car driven by a Jewish woman was rear ended by a shuttle van on Albany Ave, between Crown and Montgomery St. The woman was driving a Mercury Sable down Albany Ave, when a Lincoln Town car made a short stop when somebody suddenly opened the door of a parked car. The woman tried slowing down, but a Shuttle van rear ended her and sent her skidding into the Town car.

Baruch Hashem there was no serious injuries. The Jewish woman was taken to the hospital by Hatzala as a precaution.

Hatzalah’s CH-1 Involved in an Accident

Friday night at around 3:00am Hatzalahs newest ambulance ‘CH-1’ was involved in an accident while transporting a patient to Methodist Hospital. The accident took place on Eastern Parkway and New York Ave at around 3:00am, the ambulance was en route to the hospital and made a left turn from New York Ave onto Eastern Pkwy and a Toyota of an unknown model came down the parkway at a high rate of speed and struck the ambulance.

The ambulance took significant damage to its rear on the driver’s side, while the other took heavy damage to its front end. The driver of the Toyota refused medical attention at first but at the end submitted to treatment from EMS workers that responded to the incident. One of Hatzalahs other ambulances, CH-3, responded and continued the transport of the patient.

12 Year Old Girl Struck By an SUV in Critical Condition

At around 4:45pm in the afternoon a 12 year old girl was on her way home and was struck by a fast moving SUV on the corner of Empire Blvd and Troy Ave. The SUV, a late model Jeep Grand Cherokee came barreling down Empire from Schenectady driven by a Black woman, struck the young girl with great force and sent her flying across the entire Boulevard into the oncoming traffic lanes.

Many bystanders called 911 and Hatzalah who arrived on scene immediately and began treating the girl who did not loose consciousness from the impact. She was immediately transported to Kings County Hospital where she was listen in critical condition, she sustained an alarming number of injuries including two broken arms and a complicated break in one of her legs and possibly more, all this came along with trauma all over and bruising and scratches as well.

Minor Accident Involving a School bus with 19 Children Onboard

Friday morning at around 8:40am one of the local school buses on its route picking up children and taking them to school was involved in a minor accident on E. New York Ave. and Kingston Ave. after a car passed the bus illegally.

A Honda Accord driven by a restless Black male waited for the bus to turn off its flashing red lights then passed the bus on its left crossing over the double yellow lines then attempted to make a right turn up Kingston in front of the bus, the bus driver did not see the vehicle that had illegally passed him and started to move forward and struck the car in its passenger side front and rear door, the car which was still moving forward pulled the busses bumper outwards.

Short Police Chase Ends in Severe Crash

At around 1:00am on Tuesday night a Police Officer observed a driver at the intersection of St. Johns Pl. and Brooklyn Ave. talking on his cell phone, the officer pulled up behind the car to perform a traffic stop when the blue Honda station wagon took off at a high rate of speed, upon reaching the intersection of Brooklyn and Eastern Parkway the fleeing vehicle attempted to make a left turn, but the combination of speed and wet roads sent the car onto the median then trough a bench and into a parked minivan. The driver then got out of his wrecked car and began fleeing on foot and was stopped a short minute later by a vigilant resident who tackled the suspect and held him for police.

Accident on Eastern Parkway

At approximately 9:30 last night, Monday, a Lubavitcher man driving on Eastern Parkway was hit by another car between Albany and Troy. The Lubavitcher was driving along Eastern Parkway when a car driven by a Black female tried changing lanes and hit the Lubavitcher’s car in the rear passenger door.

The car was spun out of control and ended up in the median. The other car ended on opposite side of traffic.

Hatzalah arrived on the scene and transported the man to Kings County Hospital in unknown condition. The passengers from the other car refused medical attention.

Accident on Brooklyn and Union Injures 1

Sunday evening at around 8:45pm just as the snow was getting underway two cars collided in the intersection of Brooklyn Ave and Union St. A blue Chevy Impala driven by a Jewish man was driving down Brooklyn when a black Saab driven by a Black man crossed the intersection from Union St. the cars collided and the Saab was stuck in the driver side door and the car spun around.

The Jewish driver did not sustain any injuries while the other driver was knocked unconscious. Emergency Medical Personal had to force open the doors of his car and rushed him to Kings County Hospital. The driver of the Impala said that he had a green light and was coming from Eastern Parkway and tried to stop, but couldn’t.

Accident Injures 7 Month Pregnant Woman on Empire

Motzoai Shabbos at around 1:55am a yiddisher woman driving home was hit by another car at the intersection of Albany and Empire. The yiddishe woman was driving her small red Dodge Neon and making a left turn from Albany onto Empire when a white Toyota Corolla with 4 Black females ran a red light and struck the Dodge.

The car was flung nearly 5 feet and the driver wasn’t sure if she had banged her head. A patrolling Shomrim member witnessed the accident and immediately called Hatzalah and 911, Hatzalah arrived and scene and transported the woman to Kings County Hospital in stable condition for checkups and observation. All the passengers from the Toyota refused medical attention.

Member of Anash Struck by Reversing Car

Around 40 minutes after Shabbos a member of Anash in his late 50’s was struck by a car reversing on Carroll St between Troy and Schenectady. The driver of the car, a male Black, got out of the car and immediately called 911, other residents who witnessed the accident called Hatzalah who responded right away and treated the man for injuries to his legs and head.

He was then transported to Kings County Hospital for checkups and observation.

This is the second such incident where pedestrians were struck by reversing vehicles, when crossing one must always check both ways, especially when crossing in the middle of a block and outside of a crosswalk. And drivers must be careful to always look over their shoulder rather then just rely on their rear view mirrors as there are big blind spots in the rear view of a car.

Bochur Struck by Reversing Car

Thursday night at around 10:30pm a Bochur was walking to a Farbrengen with a friend and was crossing Montgomery St between Kingston and Albany and was struck by a reversing car. The car was driven by member of Anash and he immediately stopped and got out to help while his friend called Hatzalah. A resident on the block invited Hatzalah with the patient into their home to avoid the below freezing weather outside.

The Bochur sustained and injury to his head from the fall and an injury to his knee and arm, he was taken to Kings County Hospital for a checkup. B”H none of the injuries were very serious.

Accident with Injuries on Eastern Parkway

At around 5:10pm on Wednesday 3 cars rear ended each other injuring one. The incident took place on Eastern Pkwy between Troy and Schenectady where three cars each rear ended each other. There were no Yidden involved in this incident.

FDNY and FDNY EMS responded and took one patient to a local hospital, the NYPD cleared the parkway quickly due to the traffic quickly backing up well passed New York Ave.

Car Runs into Tree

At around 1:30 early Monday morning a black Lexus LS400 lost control on the wet streets and drove up onto the sidewalk completely uprooting a stand pipe and folding its two protective poles and finally coming to rest on a tree.

The incident took place on Eastern Pkwy between Kingston and Albany, FDNY EMS responded to the scene and removed the driver to a local hospital. There were no Yidden involved in this incident.

Minor Accident on Eastern Parkway

At around 9:35pm there was a minor accident at the intersection of Eastern Parkway and Kingston involving two livery car service vehicles. According to one of the drivers the traffic signal had turned yellow and he stopped when he was rear ended, while the other driver said that the car in front of him suddenly short stopped.

The car in the rear was carrying one passenger who was complaining of not feeling well and she was transported to Kings County Hospital by EMS, and both drivers refused medical attention. There were no yidden involved in this accident.

Boy Falls into Open Basement

At around 1:20pm on Friday, Erev Shabbos, a 12 year old boy fell through an open set of metal doors which leads to the basement of a store on Kingston Avenue. The incident took place on the corner of Kingston and Crown where a few boys were playing and one of the boys took the nearly 10 foot plunge backwards down the stairs into the basement.

Hatzalah was called and treated the boy then transported him along with his mother to Kings County Hospital for further checkups and observation.

Chase Followed by a Crash on Montgomery and Kingston

At around 8:45pm police began pursuing a Lincoln Town Car after they had observed the car driving recklessly and running red lights. During the pursuit the Lincoln made a turn onto Montgomery Street and sped down the wrong way with police right behind him, upon reaching the intersection of Kingston it collided with a minivan that was driving up Kingston.

The Lincoln was occupied by two male blacks both of which were still in the vehicle as police officers exited their vehicle with their guns drawn screaming ‘show us your hands’, the perps exited their vehicle with their hands up, at this point large numbers of backup arrived on scene and placed both of the perps in handcuffs.

U-Turn Once Again Causes a 3 Car Accident on Empire

Monday night at around 7:00pm a white Honda attempted to make a U-Turn on Empire between Schenectady and Troy and was struck by a Car Service that was headed in the same direction sending both cars into a parked Honda Accord across the street.

There were two injuries in the Car Service, both the driver and passenger, they were both transported by FDNY EMS and East Midwood Volunteer to Kings County Hospital, there were no Yidden involved in this incident.

3 Car Accident on Lefferts and Troy

At around 11:00am this morning there was a 3 car accident at the intersection of Lefferts Ave. and Troy Ave. The incident took place as the Shalom Center Bus was driving on Lefferts and according to the driver a van coming up Troy took the light and they collided and both vehicles crashing into the empty lot on the corner taking down the pedestrian signal, damaging the gate surrounding the lot and hitting a parked car.

Hatzalah responded but all drivers refused medical attention and were B”H ok. Police arrived on scene and asked the drivers for their license and insurance the driver of the van stated that he dose not have a driver’s license and he was just moving his boss’s car. His boss, who’s the owner of the grocery on that corner was present and verified this. There were no arrests made, and no transports to any hospital.
