College Students Enjoy Life-Changing Israel Tour

Dozens of college students took advantage of their summer break to visit Israel with Chabad on Campus’ IsraeLinks, completing the second trip this month. Led by scholar in-residence Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Jacobson, along with Rabbi Yosef and Devora Wilhelm of Chabad of the Upper East Side, IsraeLinks took the enthusiastic students on a thrilling journey filled with fun and meaning.

If you want Kosher pork—pork spare ribs, pork cutlets, center-cut pork chops, all labeled in Hebrew “Sh’Chita Beit Yosef” (i.e., kosher slaughtered)—you get that only in New York, only at the Associated Supermarket at 4407 Greenpoint Avenue, in Sunnyside, Queens, and only for a few hours today, between the time the Israeli artist Oded Hirsch snapped the above photo on his cell phone and it got forwarded to me, and the time I phoned Aris Duran, the supermarket manager, for an explanation.

As Israel’s Protest Tents Grow, Chabad Counsels Calm

Tel Hai College student union organizer Aviad Rosenfeld pitched his tent alongside dozens of others in this Kiryat Shmona protest against soaring housing prices. Slogans plastered on placards around him decried the rising rent and the injustice of failing to provide citizens who put their lives on the line in the army with the means to obtain a mortgage. On average housing prices throughout Israel have risen 60% since 2007.
