It was a crisp November evening, my father came home from work, and after having dinner, he invited me to accompany him to the polls. Standing on line, my father gave me a crash course on American civics, democracy and the electoral system. Although the information overload confused my eight year old brain, I thoroughly enjoyed the quality time spent with my father and learned a thing or two. I can also remember him telling me that it was the first time he voted for a Republican President (Ronald Reagan).

A videographer, standing right outside the apartment building in Nachlat Har Chabad where three Kedoshim lost their lives this morning, captures the Iron Dome intercept and destroy another rocket launched from Gaza toward the Israeli civilians.

Young Entrepreneurs Learn to Sell It!

Despite being pushed off by Hurricane Sandy, some 90 members of the Crown Heights community came to the Jewish Children’s Museum on November 5 for for “Sell It!” The first in a new series of seminars hosted by Crown Heights Young Entrepreneurs (CHYE), “Sell It!” offered attendees of all backgrounds and levels chance to dive into the world of sales and enhance their sales skills.

Rockets Reaching Outskirts of Tel Aviv, Kfar Chabad

A rocket launched by Palestinian militants toward Israel makes its way from the northern Gaza Strip, seen from the Israeli-Gaza Border, southern Israel, Nov. 15, 2012.

Two rockets launched from the Gaza Strip today landed in Rishon Letzion, some 7 miles south of Tel Aviv. No causalties were reported in those rocket attacks, by far the farthest strikes by Hamas in two days of fighting. Rishon Letzion is considered a sister city to Tel Aviv.

Update: Residents of Kfar Chabad are reporting that warning sirens have gone off in town. Kfar Chabad is located roughly two miles from Rishon Letzion. It is less than a mile away from Ben Gurion airport.

Photos: Rockets Claim Lives of Three Lubavitchers

Three Lubavitchers were killed in a rocket attack on the neighborhood of Nachlat Har Chabad in the Southern Israeli city of Kiryat Malachi this morning: The victims, two men and a woman, were identified as Ahron Smadga, Yitzchak Amselam, and a 25-year-old expectant mother, Mirah (nee Cohen) Scharf. Mirah’s husband, Shmuel, an infant and several other children were among the wounded who were taken to nearby hospitals.
