Among the victims of this morning’s Gaza rocket attack on the Israeli city of Kiryat Malachi was a 25 year old Chabad shlucha to New Dehli, India named Mirah (nee Cohen) Scharf, who was visiting Israel for the memorial service of Chabad Mumbai terror victims Gabi and Rivka Holtzberg. The Hebrew anniversary of their brutal murder is today.

Bill Introduced to Allow Stopping in Front of Hydrant

After receiving complaints from several constituents, Councilman David G. Greenfield today introduced common sense legislation in the City Council that would allow motorists to temporarily stop at fire hydrants at all times as long as they are ready to immediately move their vehicle in the case of an emergency. Currently, drivers in New York City are allowed to temporarily stand at fire hydrants only during daylight hours, but not during evening hours.

If 25-year-old Zev Icyk has his way, that statement will ring a little truer after the Toronto Blue Jays offer him the last managerial opening in baseball this winter. The lifelong Jays fan is currently studying at the Rabbinical College of America in New Jersey but told columnist Bob Elliott of the Toronto Sun that he’d like to lead inside a stadium in addition to a synagogue.
