Young Entrepreneurs Learn to Sell It!
Despite being pushed off by Hurricane Sandy, some 90 members of the Crown Heights community came to the Jewish Children’s Museum on November 5 for for “Sell It!” The first in a new series of seminars hosted by Crown Heights Young Entrepreneurs (CHYE), “Sell It!” offered attendees of all backgrounds and levels chance to dive into the world of sales and enhance their sales skills.
Following three breakaway sessions, guests were treated to a keynote address by renowned speaker and author, Mark Woods. Titled “Attack Your Day! (Before It Attacks You),” Woods highlighted important organizational skills integral to effective sales skills.
“Throughout the day [a sales person] will encounter all kinds of situation,” Woods said afterwards. “It’s important to use these skills to prioritize situations as they present themselves.”
Shimon Rosenberg, Senior Loan Officer at JPMorgan Chase and one of the presenters for Sales 101: How to Find Success with a Career in Sales, was impressed by the caliber of the event.
“Attendees were dedicated to really learning how to better their careers,” Rosenberg said. As to future such events, Rosenberg noted that “this was something that everyone I know should participate.”
Sam Greenwald, the CEO of Momentum Business Capital, highlighted the unique position a career in sales can have for a member of the frum community.
“The flexibility of sales offers the power of financial Independence,” Greenwald said. “For those not looking to go on shlichus, it gives them an opportunity to prosper instead of merely falling into a job.”
Following the address, participants were able to network with fellow attendees, as well as with recruiters offering job openings in sales.
Rabbi Yehoshua Werde, the director of CHYE, announced a bevy of upcoming events. Among those slated for the coming month are “The Top Ticket Items To Get Right in Your Business,” a workshop on aligning business strategy, on Nov 19, and “How Women Can Win at Business,” an all ladies round-table that explores how uniquely feminine qualities are advantageous in the business world, on November 28.
