Video: City Bus Catches Fire on Utica Ave.
An MTA bus caught fire this afternoon near the intersection of Utica Ave. and East New York Ave. in Crown Heights. The blaze broke out in the rear of the bus, and had to be put out by firefighters who rushed to the scene.

Jewish Soldiers Honored on 70th D-Day Anniversary
On Sunday, June 8, 2014, seventy years after the D-Day landing, several hundred members of the Jewish community of France met at the cemetery in “Omaha Beach”, Normandy. 149 Jewish soldiers are buried there. The traditional ceremony was held to honor the memory of Jewish soldiers killed as they landed to fight the Nazis in June, 1944.

The cost of renting apartments in Crown Heights continues to soar to dizzying heights, making the routine payment of bills a monthly struggle for all but the very well-to-do in our community. Among the hundreds of Chasidim who traveled to Mezhibuzh, Ukraine for Shavuos, to spend the Yahrzeit of the Baal Shem Tov near his burial place, was a group of Chabad Chassidim led by Rabbi Nachman Yosef Twerski of Crown Heights and Rabbi Chaim Sholom Deutsch of Jerusalem.
