The Comrades Marathon is to South Africa what the New York City Marathon is to the United States. Only two times as long. At 90 kilometers, or 56 miles, the world’s oldest and largest marathon is billed as the ultimate human race. When the gun goes off this Sunday morning at 5:30, 20,000 runners will descend from the Kwazulu Natal town of Pietermaritzburg to Durban on the sea. Tanya Printed on Mount Everest
Lubavitcher Photographer Meir Alfasi took Judaism to new heights by trekking up Mount Everest with his black hat and Kapota, along with paper and a printer, and printing the Tanya on the mountain. “The Lubavitcher Rebbe instructed us to print the Tanya in every place where there are Jews,” he told Israeli media.
Shliach Forms Blues Band with Congregants
Rabbi Daniel Grodnitzky, a Philadelphia Chabad Shliach, teamed up with several of his congregants and friends to form a new ‘Jewish-American roots blues band,’ named Shoresh, which is making its debut this Lag Ba’omer.
