Tuesday marked the first real day of the Republican National Convention, as well as my first real day performing my page duties, and I am happy to write that the day was just as exciting as I had hoped.

Alec Russin turns 13 next month, and as is customary with a bar mitzvah community service project, Russin donated his time to an organization, in this case one that helps special-needs children. However, Russin’s involvement with The Friendship Circle, based out of Livingston, NJ, was deeply personal.

The young newly-wed Chabad woman arrested by Israeli military police remains imprisoned at this time, Wednesday afternoon. ‘D’ was arrested on Monday as she tried to retroactively arrange affairs vis-à-vis military service, something she neglected to do as a teenager. Today, a married frum woman, military police felt compelled to immediately lock her up for her offense, sending her to Prison 4 where she remains, on a hunger strike.

The Indian Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the death sentence of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack convict Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab, saying that waging war against the country was the primary and foremost offence committed by the Pakistani terrorist.

New Steinsaltz Talmud Unveiled at Retreat

Koren Publishers Jerusalem, an exhibitor at the National Jewish Retreat’s Resource Fair, created for the event a special booklet containing a selection from their new edition of the Steinsaltz Gemara. The first 12 pages of the Babylonian Talmud were specially printed and bound for the Retreat.
