Imprisoned Kallah Placed in Leg Shackles

The young newly-wed Chabad woman arrested by Israeli military police remains imprisoned at this time, Wednesday afternoon. ‘D’ was arrested on Monday as she tried to retroactively arrange affairs vis-à-vis military service, something she neglected to do as a teenager. Today, a married frum woman, military police felt compelled to immediately lock her up for her offense, sending her to Prison 4 where she remains, on a hunger strike.

The Kiryat Malachi resident now reports she is being “abused”, explaining to her husband they have a shackle attached to her leg. Her husband questions why the shackle, since she is inside the prison and there is nowhere for her to run.

Some of the askanim working to get ‘D’ released feel this is an intentional act against a frum woman, citing that regardless of her nonfeasance as a teenager, failing to sign forms stating she is a frum woman and therefore not serving in the military, today, she is married and by all accounts is not required to serve.

Hence, the abuse of this young frum chareidi woman appears to be a brazen effort towards sending a clear message to the chareidi tzibur at the expense of this young woman.

This Is Unreasonable & Heavy Handed! Shame On The Police.

  • Does this vindicate Neturei Karta?

A Litvishe friend once said to me, “if you would know what goes on in Israel, you would be siding with Neturei Karta.” Never thought I would think of going that far until seeing things like this.

Fuya fuya, shame on the police, I spit on their face. I came back from Israel recently, and was proud to see police all over Yerushalayim, protecting and serving, the way it should be. But this, this is exactly what muslims and PLO and Jihads do, exactly this shameful bitter interrogation without just cause. Even my younger son had to fill out non-military deferrment papers at Ben Gurion Airport, it took 2 hours waiting – but the staff let him go after all the paper work was done. This lady is 100 1000% innocent. Let her go, or else Hashem will rain down Iranian Missiles big time, KAPISH??? You smelly Israeli Justice system!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You smell.

  • Shana

How can you even mention the Neturei Karta. They support Iran who calls for the destruction of Israel and don’t think it will end there.

  • A frum Yid

“as she tried to retroactively arrange affairs vis-à-vis military service, something she neglected to do as a teenager” – in other words, she broke the law, and is now in jail.

My god, the persecution! How dare they arrest someone for breaking the law. She’s frum! Frum people shouldbe allowed to break the law without repercussions. Particularly since there’s clearly no halachic obligation to follow the law.

    /sarcasm

You know, you really aren’t doing the frum community any favors when you post stuff like this.

to #4 ( and the rest of you). your son filled out the paperwork and didnt ignore the summons to the army. as a former israeli police officer and a family of 6 who also served in the israeli army i know what goes on over there. people think that they are above the law or that they are not part of the state of israel but live in the state and therefore ignore the army and the police. if you ignore the army or the police in the U.S.A you will get the same outcome. arrested. as for the shakles, HIGHLY HIGHLY UNLIKELY. nobody is going to risk there pension on that girl. im going to make a phone call and have her transfered to the high securty jail were they have the most ficious gaurd dogs ive ever seen, then ill listen to her complaints. she got what she deserves.
P.S. women in israel dont have to go to the army, they CAN WORK IN A HOSPITAL!!! my sister did that. its called sherut leumi. you were tznius cloths and your home for shabbos. she and the rest of the women dont have an excuse.
so for all you peaple who are talking nonsense, get the facts first.

  • GadolHador

This would happen anyone who didn’t register for the IDF, chareidi, frum, secular, whatever!

  • Milhouse

Hey, GadolBe’einav, how does saying that they would mistreat anyone make it BETTER? You’re only making it worse.

It should be obvious just by looking at her that she’s religious, and therefore exempt from conscription. So how can they justify laying a finger on her? Who cares whether the correct form was filled out 5 years ago? How do you put someone in prison for a missing form?

  • Hashem Hu Malkeinu

She should pay a penalty, the way anyone does for not filling out an administrative form, and that’s the end of it.

The original Neturei Karta of Reb Amram Bloy WAS right. The Satmar Rov was also right. Today’s bunch of bozos have nothing to do with the real NK and they are in cherem in Satmar.

  • Green

No. 4, Alex Bor: You say, “Let her go, or else Hashem will rain down Iranian Missiles big time”. Are you Hashem’s gabai? Can you arrange that those “Iranian Missiles” will miss Bnai Brak and Meah She’arim and only hit the evil zionists?

  • Someone who filled out the form, Israel

It’s not about filling out an administrative form. She was conscripted. If she wanted to delay or avoid joining the military, she had to show up on a certain date and declare that she leads a religious lifestyle. Ignoring a draft date is an incredibly stupid move. She lives in Israel and knows what is expected of her. She’ll be lucky not to get the mandatory 30 days imprisonment for draft dodging.

This is pure Bull-sh… I can’t imagine what the end of this sheitel frum chabad lady will be. The have turned a little nothing technicality into a blown out sinful crime… I curse upon the judicial people and police who are handling this very simplistic case. I curse them that if anything more terrible comes upon this lady, God himself will strike down upon them fierce and quick. Go to H you guys.

  • Shoftim v-shotrim...

Why should this surprise anyone? The tzyoni “shoftim v’shotrim” are the talmidim of those who imprisoned and tortured the Freidiker Rebbe,R”L!

  • Oxymoron!

I once met a Neturei Karta dude who does their PR. He told me about the fights they have in Satmar.
He kept on asking me, “Is there any Neturei Karta in Lubavitch?”
He also asked, “Why are we hated so much?”

  • Dudester from Pittsburgh

What did you think? The same police force that drags out women with sheitels from “settlements”, in the most un-tzniustik manner, with their naked legs hanging out to the public media… this same police force has no qualms whatsoever to make a living example out of a chassidic newlywed lady. They are scum, these young police thugs… I’ve seen them get pissin drunk and rude like goyim in the heart of Yerushalayhim night clubs.

there are many halachic problems with serving sherut leumi

lubavitcher girls do not serve there on principle

you might want to research the topic a little deeper before expressing your opinion publicly

  • Hashem Hu Malkeinu

The problem with NK (the real one) and Satmar is that, lerov avoinoisenu, the state was created. They had no practical ideas on how to deal with that reality.

The difference between legitimate kanoim (of whom few, if any, exist today) and the attention-seeking fools of the self-appointed NK is that the latter wishes for enemies of Jews to dismantle the state, whereas the former believe Moshiach is the only one who can do that.

We also believe Moshiach will dismantle the state, but for us the focus is Moshiach, not the end of the state.

  • Hashem Hu Malkeinu

I know exactly what goes on in Sherut Leumi. Believe me, it is not for a Lubavitcher girl.

For those who are so quick to condemn, how do you know she was even around to get the notice? Many of our girls do real service to the Jewish people by helping shluchim before they get married. She could have been away and not gotten the notice, because it is clear she was honest enough to check her status. In EY honesty is NOT the best policy when it comes to the memsheles hazadoin.

you can say what you want
unfortunately-do not put anything past some
I was almost purposely run over by an Israeli police officer on a horse while I was at a peaceful hafgana against Oslo

there is absolutely no need for a shackle

and about your absolutely horrific comment:
“im going to make a phone call and have her transfered to the high securty jail were they have the most ficious gaurd dogs ive ever seen, then ill listen to her complaints. she got what she deserves.”
If you truly were a police officer and you talk like this then you are proving to the world how downright vicious some of them act, you included.

  • Moshe

It is time for achduth to be among frum Yiddin. We should join Satmar and let’s tell the world know that the State of Israel does not represent the Jewish people, but themselves. We should just turn to Hashem for mercy and Moshiach now.

  • David

The problem isn’t that they took action, but that the action they took is heavy-headed vis-a-vis the offense. It would have been sufficient to make the formal arrest and issue a summons to appear before a judge. If she’s not a native Israeli, placing her on the passport control / shin bet no-fly list until the hearing is concluded would ensure she didn’t flee the country. At most this amounts to a fine. Jail time shouldn’t be required.
