Houston, TX — On Sunday, Feb. 4, Chabad Lubavitch Center-Texas Regional Headquarters will take the first major step toward an extensive, expansive building renovation project. A special groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled to begin at noon at the Center, located at 10900 Fondren Road in Southwest Houston. Houston’s Jewish community is invited to join local dignitaries, Mayor Bill White, City Council member Anne Clutterbuck, Israeli Consul General Asher Yarden and Capt. Bruce Williams of the Fondren Police Division, in celebrating what surely will be a most memorable occasion. Chief among the festivities will be a special presentation by Rabbi Sholom Ber Lipskar of The Shul of Bal Harbour, Fla.

With great sadness and pain we inform you of the very untimely passing of R. Yisroel Yitzchok ben Menachem Greenstein at the age of 54, a longtime resident of Crown Heights and Mispalel at the Maple Street Shul.

He leaves behind his wife Penina, and children Menachem Mendel, Chaim Dovid, Tziporah Faiga Zukermen (Beit Shemesh, Israel), Chana Rivkah Goldstein (Beitar, Israel), Mordechai Aron Eliezer, Malkah Ester, Yocheved Sura and Pessa Leah.

UPDATED: The Levaya will be Tomorrow [Monday] and will be Leaving from Shomrei Hadaas Chapel at 12:00pm and will be passing by 770 at around 12:30pm.

Maariv at the Rebbes House

Hundreds of Bochurim and Anash packed into the Rebbes house to daven Maariv, for the Omud stood Reb Zev Katz who Davend Maariv followed by Hatomim Moshe Lerman a Bochur studying in the Mesivta of Montreal Chazerd the first Ois of the Maamar Bosi Legani as is customary.

Motzoai Shabbos at around 1:55am a yiddisher woman driving home was hit by another car at the intersection of Albany and Empire. The yiddishe woman was driving her small red Dodge Neon and making a left turn from Albany onto Empire when a white Toyota Corolla with 4 Black females ran a red light and struck the Dodge.

The car was flung nearly 5 feet and the driver wasn’t sure if she had banged her head. A patrolling Shomrim member witnessed the accident and immediately called Hatzalah and 911, Hatzalah arrived and scene and transported the woman to Kings County Hospital in stable condition for checkups and observation. All the passengers from the Toyota refused medical attention.

From Humble Beginnings, A Global Achievement

Only 57 years ago, a small Jewish group originating in eastern Europe was struggling to reestablish itself in the U.S. Today, Chabad-Lubavitch is arguably the most dynamic factor of Jewish vitality worldwide. On this date in 1951, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson of blessed memory, assumed leadership of the movement. Today, thousands will visit the Ohel, or the resting place of the Rebbe and his father-in-law, Rabbi Joseph I. Schneersohn.

Camp Gan Israel, Parksville New York Reunion!

This Motzoai Shabbos Kids and Staff members from this past summer packed into the Rosa Hall in Campus Chomesh, Beis Rivkah Lefferts for an unforgettable evening. The kids sat down at the tables with their counselors and fellow bunkmates to enjoy a Pizza and Fries supper filled with singing camp songs which brought everyone onto the benches!

Prizes were given out, staff members huddled together talking, campers excitedly and animatedly taking to their fellow campers. The gathered crowed was then treated to a very entertaining magic show followed by a video, ‘flashbacks’, of camp’s most fond and memorable, memories!
