A Chanukah Party in the Home of the French Consul General

MIAMI, FL [CHI] — For the first time ever in Florida, a menorah lighting and Chanukah party took place at the residence of Mr. Philippe Vinogradoff, Consul General of France in Miami. This event was organized for the French community of Florida by Rabbi Yisroel Frankforter and the students of the Miami Smicha Program. Over 120 people participated in this beautiful event. Mr. Vinogradoff expressed his wish that this becomes a yearly tradition.

Children Inside When Synagogue Catches Fire

N. MIAMI BEACH, FL — A North Miami Beach synagogue caught fire on the final day of Hanukkah.

Sky Lake Synagogue on Northwest 183rd Street went up in flames while 25 children were inside for Hebrew classes Wednesday night.

Chanukah with Chabad at CALTECH

PASADENA, CA [CHI] — The California Institute of Technology (CALTECH), one of the top ten universities in the world, held its first public Menorah lighting on campus this Chanukah. On Thursday night, December 6th, over eighty students, family members and faculty, gathered outside Caltech’s main dining hall for an outdoor Menorah lighting ceremony and Chanukah celebration.

The worlds only Menorah Fire Truck Parade

GAITHERSBURG, MD [CHI] — Rockville Volunteer Fire Department, in conjunction with Chabad of Upper Montgomery County, paraded through Gaithersburg this past Thursday night. With a three foot Menorah perched on the front of Rescue Engine 33, the parade included five Chiefs vehicles a ladder truck and an ambulance, which drove throughout town handing out dreidels and chocolate Chanukah “Gelt”.

Bochurim Summonsed for Hanging up Posters

The minivan pulled over at the intersection of Carroll and Kingston.

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Two Kvutzeh Bochurim driving around Crown Heights in a minivan and hanging up posters were stopped and summonsed for illegally hanging up signs on city property.

The Bochurim, who could not speak English very well, were assisted by two patrolling Shomrim members with translating and explaining what happened. After receiving the summons they were told to stop hanging up the signs.

LOUISVILLE, KY — Chanukkah might be the miracle of light, but a celebration of the Jewish holiday yesterday in Louisville was grounded in cold, hard ice.

The third annual Chanukah on Ice drew more than 250 people to the Iceland Sports Complex off North Hurtsbourne Parkway.

Thousands at Goldstream Park Chanukah Event

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL [CHI] — A record breaking number of 10,000 people, as estimated by the police, filled the Gulfstream Park of Hallandale Beach, Florida, to join a huge Chanukah party held for the 28th year in a row.
