Children Inside When Synagogue Catches Fire
N. MIAMI BEACH, FL — A North Miami Beach synagogue caught fire on the final day of Hanukkah.
Sky Lake Synagogue on Northwest 183rd Street went up in flames while 25 children were inside for Hebrew classes Wednesday night.
“We found heavy, black smoke all the way down to the ground, we worked our way in, felt the heat and we ended up finding the fire in the kitchen room,” said Lt. Adam Bram with Miami-Dade fire-rescue.
The synagogue was heavily damaged, but all of the children were able to get out safely. No injuries were reported.
Services will be held at Rabbi Rafi Rosenberg’s home until a temporary location is found.
“When something like this happens, we’ve got to make it twice as good as it was, so that’s what we’re going to do,” said Rosenberg. “There’s going to be a miracle that comes out of this. I’m really confident — sad, but confident.”

Thank you to our Firemen !!! Whether they are from St. John’s Pl. or North Miami Beach they risk their lives without regard for their own safety. These civil servants are our true heroes.
Thank G_d that none of the children were injured.
