Evening of Friendship and Inspiration in Chicago

Some 240 guests participated in the Friendship Circle of Illinois’ 6th annual evening of inspiration, honoring volunteers and supporters. During the school year, teen volunteers provided ongoing visits and ‘friendship’ to children with special needs and their families.

Chabad Promises Ohel Will Be Orderly on 3 Tammuz

Rabbi Abba Refson, head of Congregation Ohel Chabad Lubavitch in Cambria Heights, says this year’s pilgrimage to the grave of the sect’s beloved leader, the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, will be “more orderly.” It is scheduled for June 21 to 24, and about 20,000 people are expected to make the trip.

Prime Minister Calls on Jews to Invest in Montenegro

A delegation from the Rabbinical Centre of Europe (RCE) met last week with Prime Minister of Montenegro, Igor Lukšić, to commemorate and celebrate the recognition of Judaism as an official religion and the Jewish community as an official minority in Montenegro. In February, Prime Minister Lukšić signed an agreement with Jewish community leaders to recognize the Jewish community as an official minority in Montenegro.
