Police are looking for a suspect wanted in connection with an assault on a woman in Crown Heights Sunday afternoon.
Five hundred Jews, many wearing armbands with the Star of David, marched on Rostov-on-Don yesterday, August 12, in remembrance of the Zmievskaya Balka massacre. The men, women and youth followed the same route that the Jews of Rostov in southern Russia were forced by the Nazis to march on August 11-12 in 1942 where 27,000 people, among them also Soviet citizens, were murdered at a ravine on the edge of the city.

City Comptroller John C. Liu today called on Mayor Michael Bloomberg to reform NYPD policy to allow Orthodox Jewish and Sikh officers to serve without having to forsake their beards (and/or turbans).

I was watching online the dedication of the new Chabad center in Kiryat Arbah named for the daughter of the shluchim there, Chaya Mushka Attiah, a”h. Besides shedding quite a few tears as I watched Chaya Mushka’s father dance with the sefer Torah and as I heard his voice break as he spoke a few words, suddenly a thought came to my mind: If a little girl could give up her life for the inyan of tznius, how much more so must we all make a huge effort to increase in tznius within ourselves, our children, our communities.
