Letter & Spirit: Tefillin, Oil Exploration and the Besht
In this week’s edition of Letter & Spirit, we present an intriguing letter from the Rebbe in which he makes a connection between tefillin, oil and gas exploration in the Land of Israel and a teaching of the Baal Shem Tov. The letter was written through the Rebbe’s trusted secretary Rabbi Nissan Mindel, and was made available by the latter’s son-in-law, Rabbi Sholom Ber Shapiro.

From Days Gone By: Lubavitch in the Early ‘40s

Recently the world’s Jewish news outlets reported on the “adoption” of an Orthodox boy by Argentina’s president, ostensibly to prevent him from becoming a werewolf. Interestingly, Rabbi Mendel Kaplan dedicated two classes to this topic in his weekly class that airs on Jewish.tv.

New Torah Begun in Suburban Atlanta
A Jewish community in west Cobb County, Georgia, gathered earlier this month to celebrate inscribing the first letters of a Sefer Torah, which will be finished during the next year by a Sofer in Israel.
