Alternate Side Rules Suspended Monday-Thursday

Alternate side parking (street cleaning) and parking meter regulations will be suspended on Monday, July 4, for observance of Independence Day. Alternate side parking regulations also will be suspended Tuesday through Thursday, July 5-7, for a Muslim holiday. Parking meter regulations will be in effect on those days.

Holocaust Survivor, Author Elie Wiesel Passes Away

Holocaust survivor, Nobel Peace Prize laureate, prolific author and outspoken activist Elie Wiesel died Saturday at the age of 87. Wiesel was perhaps best known for his major role in promoting Holocaust education, and for perpetuating the memory of the Holocaust in the post-World War II era with his memoir “Night,” based on his experience as a teenager in the Auschwitz concentration camp.

First Chabad Rov Says Crown Heights Eruv Is Kosher

Rabbi Sholom Ber Shuchat, Crown Heights resident and Dayan on the Beis Din of Agudas Harabonim in New York, has inspected the Crown Heights Eruv and written a comprehensive Halachic pamphlet on its validity. He is the first Chabad Rov to publicly come out in support of the Eruv, albeit with the stipulation that it should be improved so that it complies with the Halachic approach of the Chabad Rebbeim.
