Chabad on Campus Welcomes 20 New Couples

Summer is a good time for many Chabad-Lubavitch emissaries, especially those based on college campuses, to get outside of their immediate surroundings—spending time with family, working with kids at camp, visiting friends or alumni. While the students are away, they also immerse themselves in planning and preparing for the upcoming year’s Jewish holidays, events and programs.

Chattanooga Jewish Community Gathers for Healing After Shooting of Five Military Men

As residents of Chattanooga, Tenn., continue to grapple with the killing of five members of the U.S. military last week, about three-dozen members of the Jewish community gathered for Shabbat services at the Chabad-Jewish Center of Chattanooga. Then, on Sunday morning, about 50 people came together for a vigil that included the reading of Psalms, Mishnah study, prayer and candle-lighting.

Summer Sizzles in Longmeadow, MA

School may not be in session, but summertime is busy at Lubavitcher Yeshiva Academy (LYA) in Longmeadow, MA. LYA organizes a Sizzlin’ Summer Barbecue for the community that grows bigger and better each summer. At the barbecue, people of all ages and from different segments of the community attend, and LYA staff take advantage of the opportunity to shmooze with them.

Israeli Ambassador to Canada Thanks Shliach

In Once-Judenrein Germany, Jewish Life Blossoms

Robby Rajber is president of the Maccabi Games in Munich and the owner of a film production company. He is also the son of Holocaust survivors who “got stuck” in Germany after the war. Twenty five years ago, he says speaking perfect English, the attitude was that “Jewish life should be kept in the backyard,” and he didn’t see a need for Chabad in Germany.

Wilmette Savors the Warmth of a New Jewish Center

Good things are worth waiting for, and the new home of the Chabad Center for Jewish Life and Learning in Wilmette, Ill., certainly fits that category. After spending more than 20 years in temporary spaces that included, of all places, a funeral home, the 8,500-square-foot building on Chicago’s North Shore is a dream come true for the Chabad-Lubavitch emissaries and the community they serve.
