The Jewish Community Relations Council of New York (JCRC-NY), and a coalition of diverse community leaders in partnership with Brooklyn Children’s Museum and Jewish Children’s Museum, present the 4th annual #OneCrownHeights Neighborhood Festival, Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Brower Park, Park Place between Brooklyn and Kingston Avenues, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

18 Years Later, Part 6: 9/11 Through the Eyes of Shomrim Volunteers

Amid the chaos and panic following the airliners slamming into the two World Trade Center towers on September 11, 2001, many men and woman answered a higher calling – instead of running away, they turned and ran towards the burning buildings in desperate attempts to rescue those trapped in the burning inferno. Among those brave men was a band of Shomrim volunteers from Crown Heights.

In recent years, a custom has become prevalent among Anash: The study of the kvius – a year of Sichos and Maamarim that coincides with the set-up of this year’s calendar. The Rebbe’s Farbrengens often open with an explanation of the parshah, date of the month, and also the connection between the two, and therefore, those farbrengens have a special relevance when the kvius recurs. In honor of the new upcoming year, 5780, two new Seforim of this year’s kvius have been published.
