CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — At around 5:00am the Shomrim Hotline rings and on the line a man screams “My address is … There is a burglar in my house! Come Quick. Wait, He’s running out now!” after giving his address on President Street between Schenectady and Utica, three Shomrim members arrived on scene within mere moments and begin searching for the perpetrator.

Hate Crime in Fairfax District Sparks Outrage

LOS ANGELES, CA — L.A. Police stepped up their patrols in the Fairfax District Friday night after a pellet gun attack against two Jewish rabbinical students. City leaders are outraged over the hate crime.

Police say the shooting spree lasted through Thursday night into the early Friday morning. Two young men in a black Lexus were shooting at people randomly with a pellet gun but in the Fairfax District neighborhood they chose their targets specifically and now they stand accused of a hate crime.

Bochur Attacked with Glass Bottle and Robbed

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] – At around 11:45pm last night the Shomrim hotline received a call for a Bochur that was assaulted with a glass bottle and mugged while on his way home.

Shomrim members responded to President Street and Schenectady Avenue, the corner where the Bochur was assaulted, and began searching for the group that attacked him, in the meantime the Bochur received treatment from Hatzalah on Crown Street between Utica and Schenectady, in front of the apartment he is staying by.

Muggings Terrorizing Community

Crown Heights, Brooklyn [CHI] — Sunday at around 10 PM, a group of teens went around terrorizing the community. The group started out at Union St and New York Ave where they attempted to mug a bochur, and then fled down Union St and mugged another Bochur between Brooklyn Ave and Kingston Ave.

Melbourne, Australia — Melbourne’s Jewish community has been rocked by an anti-Semitic attack in which a teenager was bashed with a baseball bat and a restaurant diner punched in the face.

Police are investigating the series of violent incidents, which occurred shortly after midnight on Saturday night in Balaclava, in Melbourne’s Jewish heartland.

A 17-year-old boy, an Orthodox Jew, was bashed with a baseball bat by three men who also smashed cars parked outside a Jewish restaurant.

Attempted Robbery Erev Shabbos on Brooklyn Ave

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — A member of Anash walking home Erev Shabbos at around 7:00pm was accosted by a large group of minors on Brooklyn Avenue and Union Street, the group surrounded him and attempted to take his wallet off his belt, the victim yelled and the group began fleeing.

Car Burglar Goes on Spree, Apprehended by Shomrim

The car that was broken into overnight, suspected to be the work of the one apprehended.

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — Shomrim Members apprehended a Car Burglar early this morning, a member that was patrolling spotted the suspect on Union Street between New York and Brooklyn Avenues at around 3:00am as he was looking into cars, the member called for backup and a number of units began following the suspect.

It didn’t take long and the perp made a move on a car on Union that had a window open, he ransacked the car then fled down New York Ave and turned onto Carroll St and it was there that he made a move on another car, this time breaking a window in order to gain entry.

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — Yesterday, Wednesday, a driver parked her car on Union Street between Albany and Troy and as she was walking into a home she turned to check on her car and saw a man smash in the passenger side window, grab a bag and run.

Alarm Scares off Burglar

The Back Broken Window

Crown Heights, Brooklyn – In a brazen attempt to burglarize a Crown Heights home in broad daylight, an unknown number of perpetrators broke into the home on Eastern Parkway and Albany Avenue.

They broke a window leading into a laundry room in the back of the home, and 20 seconds later the alarm went off, apparently chasing them away.

The incident took place sometime around 3:00 in the afternoon when the alarm sounded and one of the residents came home to see the house slightly disturbed and immediately called 911 and Shomrim, who arrived on scene within moments and secured the house until police showed up.

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — At around 6:30 this evening the Shomrim hotline received a call from a worker at the Kingston Bargain Center located on Kingston between Crown and Carroll about a woman who just ran out of the store with items in her purse.

A large number of members responded and began spreading out in the area and spotted the perpetrator more then 4 blocks away from the store on Crown St and Schenectady Ave, upon approaching the woman she immediately admitted to the theft and police were called.

Boy Mugged for 25 Cents on Eastern Parkway

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — A boy walking home from the day camp he attends, ‘Gan Menachem’ earlier this afternoon was accosted by two Black males on the corner of Eastern Parkway and Brooklyn Avenue who demanded his money, all the boy had on him was a single quarter which he handed to them.

Woman Finds Burglar in Her Kitchen at 3AM

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — Last night at around 3:00am a woman walked into her kitchen and was met by a burglar holding a charity box and rummaging around looking for other valuables. The incident took place on Carroll Street between Kingston and Albany. The burglar told the woman not to yell, and then asked if there were more people in the house to which the woman responded that there were many people in the house.

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — Two Bochurim were assaulted at Lefferts Park on Shabbos afternoon. Police, Hatzalah and Shomrim all responded to the call which took place on Lefferts and Albany when the two Bochurim were assaulted by two Male Hispanics using brass knuckles.

One Arrested, Two Sought in Police Shooting

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — One man was arrested today in connection with the shooting on Monday of two New York City police officers in Brooklyn during a traffic stop. Lee Wood, 29, evidently the previously unidentified third man in the car that the officers stopped, was taken into custody, the police said.

Two NYPD Officers Shot In Crown Heights

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — Two New York City Police officers were shot early Monday morning during a routine traffic stop in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

Officer Russell Timoshenko, 23, was shot in the face and neck and is in extremely critical condition.

An officer at the hospital said, “It would be a miracle if he survives.”

Residents note: Many streets are currently closed to vehicular traffic around the area.

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — A Brooklyn man was killed in a drawn-out gunfight with the police yesterday after squeezing a lifetime of mayhem into less than 20 minutes, carjacking and crashing two cars, firing at an apartment door and a carful of strangers, and then finally at officers who closed in after he squirmed out of a passenger’s side window, the police said.
