After the passing of his mother, Rebbetzin Miriam Gordon obm, last week, Rabbi Yehoshua B. Gordon of Encino, CA received an outpouring of condolences from his online students all over the world. Thousands of students submitted their condolences through Rabbi Gordon’s daily class page at Chabad.org. The emails were printed out and brought to the shiva house each day.
The Chabad Centre in Buckhurst Hill have done it again with another amazing Menorah to feature at their Chanukah party this year. A 6ft tall Doughnut Menorah containing 380 doughnuts in 9 different colors!
Mivtzoim is for everyone, even young children, on the third day of Chanukah, Ohalei Torah’s second grade; Rabbi Filler’s class went to Roosevelt Island Senior Association to bring the joy of Chanukah to the members.
A location for an extremely impure venue was recently evicted after a Jewish owner bought the property. The eyesore located on Rockaway Turnpike, which is the main thoroughfare to the Five Towns, was recently shut down and its owners decided to add even more light with a public Menorah lighting.
A large crowd enjoyed the annual Public Menorah Lighting followed by a Chanukah Celebration in Tacoma Washington. Deputy Mayor of Tacoma Joe Lonergan gave words of greetings on behalf of the Mayor and City Council, and helped light the Shamosh.
Year after year people pack into Amsterdam’s Dam Square; located in front of the royal palace, it is the most famous square in Holland for a Menorah lighting, and this year was no different. Well over 1000 attended a special lighting of a Menorah carved from ice.
A few hundred children packed into 770 for a Chanuka rally. A special program was put together by Tzivos Hashem which included a story by Yitzy Erps and music by Chaim Fogelman. The rally was broadcasted live to over 5000 children around the world!
CROWN HEIGHTS — After noticing quite a few children walking to school without proper winter coats, a group of Crown Heights businessmen teamed up and purchased hundreds of children’s winter coats in various sizes and styles to be distributed absolutely free of charge.
For the first time, the popular Yahaduton video series has been translated into English. Yahaduton channel launched a spectacular clip for Chanukah titled “How to light Chanukah candles”. The video, narrated by Robert Keit, explains in detail how to light the Menorah and why celebrate Chanukah.
During the first summer of the Iranian Hostage Crisis, Chief Rabbi of Mexico Abraham Hershberg was selected by the United Nations to visit the Jewish hostages. Before leaving, the Rebbe gave him an important instruction: “Be sure to light the Chanukah menorah with them.”
After mounting menorahs atop minivans and gathering in Park Heights, members of Baltimore’s Jewish community paraded in a caravan south to the Inner Harbor, where they ate latkes and jelly doughnuts, danced and listened to traditional music before lighting the city’s 30-foot-tall menorah in McKeldin Park.
This past Thursday, December 6th, Lamplighters Yeshivah hosted its second annual In The Glow Fundraiser. The event gives voice to Crown Heights’ creative women. In The Glow featured a vendor showcase, raffle and concert.
