Spate of Raccoon Sightings in Crown Heights

Over the last few weeks CrownHeights.info has been alerted to many raccoon sightings around the neighborhood. Raccoons pose significant health risks to humans, ranging from rabies to strains of ringworm disease, which can be deadly.

Darchai Prepares a Parade Float in Their Own Image!

It’s 7pm on a Monday night, and Darchai Menachem is buzzing. Hours after the students are usually long gone, there are scores of boys covering two floors and three rooms, sawing wood, drilling planks together and painting boards. It’s five short days before Lag Ba’omer and staff and students are hard at work on the Darchai Menachem float.

Today, Yud Gimmel Iyar, marks the yahrzeit of Rabbi Yisroel Aryeh Leib,OBM, the brother of the Rebbe. Rabbi Yisroel Aryeh Leib was born in Nikolaev on the 16th of Sivan, 5669. That same year, the family moved to Yekatrinaslav, as Rabbi Levi Yitzchok took up the position of Rov of the city. He was known as a genius and child prodigy, and was famous for his diligence.

Rabbi Dovid Raskin, an immigrant from the Soviet Union who, as chairman of the Lubavitch Youth Organization, spearheaded many educational campaigns instituted by the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory, passed away Tuesday at the age of 84.

Yossi Hackner’s ‘Cry for Help’

Reiterating his promise to keep in better touch with the community, Yossi Hackner wrote a ‘tell-all’ style letter which he titled ‘a cry for help,’ in which he laments the lack of any real change, Rabonim still fighting, and being promised funds and assistance which never came. He concludes with an appeal for the desperately needed money to pay the Rabonim.
