ULYOP Hits the Appalachian Trail
United Lubavitcher Yeshiva of Ocean Parkway’s Shmuel Schrage Midos Program participants were rewarded after an incredible Torah Fair with a grand experience of an extended loop hike along the Appalachian Trail.
This particular trail took them to a historic shelter built in the 20’s where they received a great amount of instruction from the wilderness adult leaders Rabbi Dovid Okunov and Rabbi Michoel Harari. This was besides the basic back country edict and primitive fire making.
They then enjoyed a BBQ with all the trimmings miles from the nearest road.
The exemplary midos learned from the Shmuel Schrage midos program came through once again when participants led three weary hikers to shelter and located a clean water source for them.
A great kiddish Hashem was made and the hikers were inspired by the talmidim’s derech eretz, outgoing nature, and willingness to help anyone in need.

I am so proud of these children who will grow up .G-d willing, to be outstanding Lubavitcher Chassidim, because they will be they have a wealth of Torah knowledge, and also because the midos they practiced as youngsters will be part of their very being till 120 years.
I want to thank Rabbi Dechter, the principal, who allowed this program to be implemented. I also want to thank Rabbi Harrari whose enthusiasm and innovative approach has made this project a success.
Kol HarKavod to them, the teachers, without whom this would not be possible, and of course these wonderful children who would make any parent proud.
