Just a few days after the hectic Tishrei schedule came to an end, many Crown Heights high school girls gathered for Friendship Circle Brooklyn’s Annual Volunteer Kickoff! The only program to be offered to ALL local girls high schools, representatives from Bais Rivkah, Bnos Menachem, Bnos Chomesh, Chabad Girls Academy and Beis Chaya Mushka joined together to volunteer for an important organization in the community.
A 7-week series of Chinuch Chats with Bnos Chomesh Academy was wildly successful, with over 17,000 tuning in. Now BCA will be hosting a question and answer session with the schools principal Mrs. Dena Gorkin.

Founded ten years ago, Bnos Chomesh has yet to have a place to call its own, wandering year after year to new locations. But on Monday this all changed with the school’s purchase of a new property in Crown Heights, to serve as its permanent home.
The students of Bnos Chomesh Academy (BCA) brought Abie Rotenberg’s beloved children’s tale, “The Golden Crown,” to life, not just with their authentic-looking costumes and beautiful scenery, but with the devotion and energy that they brought to portraying this story.
Remember “The Golden Crown”, that wonderful story tape you listened to at bedtime or on long car rides? This Sunday, “The Golden Crown” will come to life, in a production by the students of Bnos Chomesh Academy in Crown Heights!
It was one of those rare scenarios for which words cannot do justice. On Sunday, Yud Kislev, if you entered the Bnos Chomesh Academy building here is what you would have seen: A large bouquet of purple and gold balloons gracing the building’s entrance, a sumptuous breakfast buffet of gourmet coffee, pastries and elegant fruit platters, a high grade copier furiously printing 120 copies of Tanya – the Bnos Chomesh Edition, fathers sitting with their daughters in every corner of the school learning b’chavrusa, and a display of gifts for the fathers.
I am the proud mother of a happy teenager who goes to Bnos Chomesh High School in Crown Heights. I am writing this op-ed anonymously because, after all, my daughter is a teenager, and needs her privacy. But remembering how I agonized at this time last year, I felt that I just had to share my story in the hopes that maybe it will help someone else.
Bnos Chomesh Academy welcomed students from Lamplighters Yeshiva to participate in an exhibit featuring the Ten Plagues, in honor of this week’s Parsha.
