BCA Production Brings Audience Back to Childhood

There’s nothing like a high school production. The late night practices, the recording sessions and dance rehearsals, the flops, the props, the finally-getting-it-right, the palpable excitement as show time draws closer and closer.

And there’s no production like a Bnos Chomesh production.

The students brought Abie Rotenberg’s beloved children’s tale, “The Golden Crown,” to life, not just with their authentic-looking costumes and beautiful scenery, but with the devotion and energy that they brought to portraying this story. Every note of song, every perfectly executed dance step and well-delivered line, drew the audience into the narrative.

“I have never seen a school production of this caliber,” commented one audience member.

“The props and costumes were realistic and beautiful,” said another.

Even the sound engineer complimented the beautiful and clear execution of the show.

Several mothers of BCA students shed tears of pride as their daughters sang, danced and acted their way into the hearts of all in attendance. “What a nachas it was for me to see my daughter expressing herself so beautifully,” said one mother, as she hugged a staff member. Another mother noted: “I’ve never seen a school that respects students’ individuality and sbuilds up their confidence in all areas the way that Bnos Chomesh does!”

What made this show unique and a real pleasure to watch was the sense of unity that the girls displayed throughout the show. Sitting in the audience, it was obvious to all of us watching that this group of girls was focused on working together, each being given the opportunity to utilize her individual strengths and talents toward making this school-wide production the success that it truly was.

That sense of purpose, that feeling of both personal accomplishment and unparalleled achdus, is what makes a Bnos Chomesh production unique.

A school only runs on the strength of its faculty, and the outstanding staff of Bnos Chomesh does an exceptional job of carrying out their school’s vision. The students know that every teacher and staff member has taken the time to get to know them and value them, imbuing in them the confidence and courage to reach ever higher goals in their learning, relationships and Chassidishkeit.

I wasn’t expecting to go but my daughter shlepped me. Boy was I glad I did. It was a professionally done show, not typical of what you see at school productions. I’m so impressed. I hope the other schools are taking notes!
