Shliach’s Son Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash [Update: Condition Stable]

BRUSSLES, Belgium — The 4-year-old son of a European Shliach is in critical condition and fighting for his life after a hit and run crash. The public is requested to please say Tehillim for Hillel ben Sara.

Update: Boruch Hashem the family has reported that Hillel has woken up and is responding well. The doctors have listed his condition as stable.

Tuesday marked the first real day of the Republican National Convention, as well as my first real day performing my page duties, and I am happy to write that the day was just as exciting as I had hoped.

Two months ago, Miriam Leichtling’s parents lost their jobs within a week of each other. For several months, Leichtling, a New York designer who has led several organized trips to Israel, had been agonizing over how to scrape together enough money to send her parents, ages 66 and 71, to Israel. But the cost of airfare for three – normally starting at about $1,000 per ticket, with a layover — was prohibitive.

Co-op Members Vote on Boycott of Israeli Products [Update: Boycott Proposal Defeated]

Members of the park slope co-op are currently debating whether to vote on a measure that, if approved, will ban all Israeli products from the progressive – ‘consumer owned’ – outlet. More than 2,000 members showed up at Brooklyn Tech High School in Fort Greene for a memorable meeting that could last hours. You can follow a live Twitter feed of the meeting here.
