MUMBAI — The Mumbai terror attacks may have left the world aghast but there are some, who though touched by the terror directly, wish to emerge stronger.

The grandparents of little baby Moshe, son of the Rabbi who perished in the attack on Nariman House or Chabad House, are in Mumbai to help rebuild it.

Dedicated to the memory of Reebetzin Rivkah Holtzberg HYD and coordinated by the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute (JLI) and the Kinus office, Rivkah’s Tent will feature a series of intellectually engaging, interactive classes on the three Mitzvos connected to women.

Two Car Accident on Empire and Kingston

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Two SUV’s collided mid-intersection after one of them blew threw a red light at high speed. The incident took place at around 1:00am as the two cars, a late model Ford driven by a black man and an older model Ford driven by a black woman, crossed the intersection of Kingston Avenue and Empire Boulevard, each blaming the other for running the light.

Had Barack Obama not clinched his party's nomination, and had the democratic ticket still won the election, the outcome would still be overwhelmingly historic. This country would have elected its first female president. Hillary Clinton's inauguration would have drawn larger than usual crowds and brought women's liberation to its crescendo.

Our Western superpower has much to learn from a younger Middle Eastern democracy. If exit polls are accurate, Israel has elected its second female Prime Minister in 60 years. To be sure, Golda Meir was her country's fourth head of state, but she was hardly the first Jewish woman in a leadership position. Israel's being ahead of its time, is as old as time itself. Throughout our people's history, Jewish women have not only been looked up to and respected, but followed and revered.
