More than 10,000 at FL’s Lag B’Omer Unity Parade
In South Florida, more than 100 Chabad Centers, joined ranks to sponsor the largest Lag B’Omer Parade and Fair in Florida history.
The Parade was on Hallandale Beach Blvd and culminated with a beautiful Unity Rally, Fair and Concert at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach.
Tonight, Monday evening, my siblings and I will commemorate the fifth yartzeit (anniversary of passing) of my dear father, Gershon Jacobson, who passed away five years ago on the 20th of Iyar, May 29, 2005.
With that special feeling reserved for people who were forced to watch the earth close up on a loved one, I will go to the synagogue and recite the kaddish prayers, connecting to my father’s zestful and inspiring memory.
And as I say Kaddish, I will have in mind a young friend of mine, Nosson Deitch, who was killed yesterday, on Lag Baomer, in a boat accident in Florida. A lump fills my throat as I write these words, about a beautiful, majestic and sincere soul, whose sudden death at the age of 21 is truly inexplicable and devastating beyond words.

Following a potentially devastating highway accident that law enforcement dubbed “miraculous,” over 100 men, women, and elementary school students from the Jewish community in Pittsburgh, P.A., marched with renewed faith in yesterday’s parade commemorating comradeship and learning.

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — A timid old man went completely nuts this afternoon, inside an Albany Avenue bodega and attempted to rob the clerk while wielding a screwdriver.

Los Angeles, CA [CHI] — More than 4,000 men, women and children joined Chabad at Schneerson Square in Los Angeles. Pico Boulevard was closed between Doheny and Crest for Chabad’s massive Lag b’Omer Unity Street Fair and Concert. A project of “Chabad Youth Programs” of Chabad Of California, the festivities commenced at 10:30 am with a parade down Pico Boulevard that included flag-waving children, a real marching band and colorful parade floats built by local schools and organizations.

TRAGEDY: Bochur Dies in Boating Accident
A 21-year-old Crown Heights Bochur died Sunday after his jet-ski collided with another near the Courtney Campbell causeway in Tampa Florida. The Bochur, Nosson N. Deitsch was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
