On Yud Gimmel Tishrei, the Yahrtzeit of the Rebbe Maharash, a special program was arranged by the Vaad Talmidei Hatemimim for the out of town guests who have travelled to Crown Heights for the month of Tishrei. The special events took place in the Kolel throughout the 24 hours of the day.

We’ve all been there, sitting in the Succah, when a neighboring family Succah bursts out in song with an energy that spreads to the nearby Succahs. Preparations are in full swing for the opening of the yeshiva in New Jersey. Rabbi Orimland, Rosh Yeshiva, is overwhelmed at the positive response of parents towards the upcoming academic year. Rabbi ‘O’ explains that in addition to Chassidus and Nigleh he has arranged a complete English curriculum with certified teachers to meet the requirements of receiving a New Jersey High School diploma.
Rabbi Arele and his wife Chaya (nee Krinsky) Matusof will be moving out on Shlichus to Calgary, Alberta. The new Shluchim will be serving under Rabbi Menachem Matusof, who is the Head Shliach of Alberta.
The Rebbe says:
1. During the holiday of Succos (Sukkot) there are many other Mitzvos (commandments) which we are commanded to fulfill besides for sitting and living in the Succah. For example; we must bring together the Four Species and make a Brachah (blessing) over them. Never the less, this holiday is called “Succos”, referring specifically to the commandment to sit and live in the Succah.
2. The Rebbe now gives five reasons as to why this holiday is specifically named “Succos” after the commandment to sit in the Succah and not after any of the other commandments related to this holiday:
