Ahmadinejad Blasts US for Plans to Execute Woman

AOL — Iran is accusing the United States of a double standard in capital punishment ahead of the planned execution of a Virginia woman convicted of arranging the murder of her husband and stepson.

“A woman is being executed in the United States for murder, but nobody protests against it,” Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told the state-run IRNA, according to an Agence France-Press report today.

Teresa Lewis, 41, will die by injection Thursday unless the Supreme Court intervenes. The Iranian parliamentary human rights committee compared her case to that of Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, a 43-year-old Iranian woman sentenced to death by stoning for adultery. Ashtiani’s death sentence was suspended after international outcry over the woman’s plight embarrassed Iran.

The parliamentary human rights committee said Lewis’ case exposes “the double standards” of the United States on human rights, according to The Guardian. “We will file an official complaint to the international community against the U.S. if the sentence is administered,” Hossein Naghavi, an Iranian parliamentary member, told the state-run Fars news agency, according to the British paper.

Ahmadinejad decried what he called the “media silence” over the planned execution of Lewis, a woman with a low IQ who U.S. human rights groups have said should be spared. A forensic psychiatrist found her IQ to be on the “borderline range” of intellectual functioning, ABC reported earlier this month.

Virginia Gov. Robert McDonnell has refused to commute her sentence, citing her “heinous crimes.” On Monday, her lawyer, James Rocap, asked the governor to reconsider.

“Respectfully, the decision you announced on September 17, 2010, does not address any of the compelling reasons for clemency that have been advanced, including the significant new evidence that none of the courts have previously considered,” Rocap wrote in a letter obtained by The Washington Post.

Lewis will be the first woman to be executed in Virginia since 1912.

The US wont bomb Irans NUKS (and they have little reason and political backing to do so).
Israel needs to do the Job themselves.
Even the US is hoping for it and will be (quietly) happy.

Jew Haters will always hate Jews regardless if the Israel defends itself or not, they will always post their antismetic videos and comments on YOUTUBE.

The Rebbe always shouted at ISRAEL not at the US.

This is not a double standard. Teresa Lewis hired 2 men to kill her husband and stepson to collect insurance money. She had a lawyer, a trial, and a jury of her peers–as far as I can see none of her rights were violated so this was not a show trial just to quickly dispense “justice”. The actual murderers received life sentences and her daughter 5 years because she knew of the plan but did nothing to stop it. Lewis received the death sentence on the fact that she was the instigator of the murders. As for her low IQ that does not jibe with me: she was smart enough to plan all this wasn’t she? So how mentally challanged can she really be. As for that poor Iranian woman, Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, go the Amestry International website to read about her plight. There is no comparison between these two cases.

  • Halacha

From the news it seems that when a man commits adultery these Arabs kill only the woman and the man gets no punishment.
It also seems that they dont require warnings or even valid witnesses.

(In Halach both the man and women get an EQUAL punishment and only if they were WARNED that they will be killed and they answer “I am doing this with the intention to get killed”. Thats why an execution almost never happend)

Absolutely disgracefull!!!How dare Mr Ahmadinejad take on the role of ‘Judge & Jury’…that is not his place.Civilised societies do not,in this day & age,(stone or any other way) put to death anyone who has fallen by the ‘wayside’.I believe Sharia Law thinks along the same line.So why has Iran taken this stance?…Jules Dickinson.
