Rabbi Dovid Scheiner, an Oholei Torah teacher for many years, passed away Sunday night, at the age of 74.

Campers and staff of Yeshivas Kayitz of Minnesota joined a camp reunion at the Eber home in Crown Heights Motzei Shabbos.

Attack of a Jewish Girl Foiled by Alert Bochurim
One of the Bochurim who foiled the attack managed to snap this blurry cellphone photo of one of the attackers.
CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — A Jewish girl came very close to being the victim of an assault, or worse, at the hands of an unruly group of 4 black males late Motzai Shabbos. The quick thinking actions of two Bochurim foiled the attack, and the would-be attackers fled.
As Yud Shvat draws to an end, Bochurim from Yeshivos around the world begin making their way back to the study halls reenergized and invigorated from the inspiration they drew during their Shabbos at the Ohel. Breaking out in a lively dance, the Bochurim from Mesivta Chicago sang “Tayereh Brider...” as they prepared to board their buses for their 16 hour trip back.

At around 6:30pm R. Yosef Braun has arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport, and greeting him are Zaki Tamir, and Fishel Brownstein, members of the Vaad Hakohol.
Hundred Participate in Hachnosas Sefer Torah
Hundreds of residents and family members joined in the joyous celebration of completing and dedicated a new Sefer Torah in memory of Rabbi Nosson Gurari OBM. After the final letters were inked in, the procession made its way through the streets of Crown Heights on its way to 770.
Vaad Hakohol All Agree On Hachtorah – R. Osdoba Still Opposes
In a meeting between the three elected members of the Vaad Hakohol, for the first time in several weeks, they unanimously agreed to go forward with the Installation Ceremony Sunday evening, and they together signed a declaration, called a “Ksav Harav”, accepting R. Yosef Braun’s election by a majority vote of the community.

Chabad Moves from Rabbi’s House to its Own Home

Rabbi Yossi Brackman, director of the University of Chicago Chabad Jewish Center, stands in front of the new Chabad house on the corner of East 57th Street and South Woodlawn Avenue. Brackman used to run the Center out of his home on East 57th Street and South Kimbark Avenue.
Students active with the U of C branch of the Chabad Jewish Center came back this quarter to both a new year and a new building.
