Past designs for Chabad Jewish Center’s menorahs on Needham Common have featured ice, toys for Mumbai attack victims, glow-in-the-dark materials, balloons, and wood.

One tradition of Judaism gets a fanciful update every year by the Chabad Jewish Center in Needham, Massachusetts, with its Hanukkah menorah-lighting ceremony on the downtown common. Each time, the menorah changes: Last year, it glowed a luminous blue-green, and past versions have been made from Legos, ice, and balloons.

Rocket Victim Released from Hospital

Chabad Chosid Rabbi Shmuel Scharf, who was seriously injured in Nachlat Har Chabad by a rocket launched from Gaza, was released from the hospital on Monday, 12 Kislev. His wife, Mrs. Mira Sharf, HYD, was among three victims of that attack who lost their lives.
