Chabad of the Tri-Valley in Pleasanton, California officially has a new home. After nine years of using rooms in various facilities around the area, the Chabad center moved into a 4,000- square-foot building.

Israeli Foreign Ministry Opposes Plan to Consider Chabad Shlichus as IDF Service
After the Shaked Committee (AKA Equal Burden of Service Committee) decided that 100 volunteers of the Chabad Lubavitch movement will be considered “civilian service” volunteers – and their service will count toward Hareidi IDF enlistment targets – they face strong opposition from the Israeli Foreign Ministry, which declared today that the proposed arrangement would not be legal.

Crown Heights Tenants Rally Against Landlords
Some tenants in Crown Heights are rallying for better rights. On Union Street, tenants say the new owner of their apartment building, BCB Properties, bought the building last year and is now trying to push them out.

Forget the IDF; Yeshiva students now how to worry about being drafted into the Ukrainian Army. Ultra-Orthodox yeshiva students in Kiev and other Ukrainian cities received draft notices to report to the Ukrainian army draft center, according to a report in Maariv.
