Shliach Coordinates with Security and Media
Ahead of a visit by the Prime Ministers of India and Israel to the Nariman House – one of the sites of the 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai – Shliach Rabbi Yisroel Kozlovsky is pictures coordinating with local security forces and briefing the media. Accompanying them on their visit will be Moishe Holtzberg, who is currently traveling to India to meet the delegation.

A Compact Study Routine
Louis Pearlman was mid-air to South Africa with his business partner, Mendel Goldman, when the latter pulled out a dog-eared copy of Dvar Malchus. Pearlman was intrigued—and disappointed. While the weekly publication of neatly divided Torah portions is compact and thorough, it’s also in Hebrew, a language inaccessible to many potential scholars. At the time there was no equivalent in other languages. Pearlman declared that if their business deal went through, he would sponsor an English version. The deal tanked but Chayenu was born.

Bnei Brak Marks Alter Rebbe’s Yohrtzeit
A large and diverse crowd of Chassidim of all stripes and colors converged on the Auditorium Hall in the Ramat Elchanan neighborhood in the Torah city of Bnei Brak. There, a special conference was taking place in honor of the yahrtzeit of the founder of Chabad Chassidus, author of the Tanya and Shulchan Aruch, known as the Alter Rebbe.

Vandalism No Match for UCLA Student’s Jewish Pride
A mezuzah will again go up on the doorpost of the Undergraduate Students Association Council at the University of California-Los Angeles, after having been forcibly ripped off multiple times in the past few years. It will be rededicated next week in the presence of a group of onlookers that the student and a campus rabbi are attracting in response to the act of vandalism.

Chassidus Essay Contest Offers $10k Prize
In honor of the Alter Rebbe’s 205th yahrzeit on 24 Teves, the Meaningful Life Center has launched the Fourth Annual MyLife: Chassidus Applied Essay Contest, awarding $10,000 to the winning essay which applies a concept in Chassidus to solve a contemporary life issue or challenge.

Weekly Letter: Why Tragedies and Suffering?
In a letter to The Rebbe, a person laments the tragedies and suffering – such as the holocaust – that have befallen the Jewish people. The Rebbes response is a lesson on perspectives.
