Muslim Republic Sees First Ever Yeshiva

In an impressive and heart-warming ceremony, a “Center for Torah Study,” the first of its kind, has opened its doors in Russia’s largest Muslim republic. Tatarstan is home to about ten thousand Jews, many of whom are members of the developed Jewish community in the capital city of Kazan under the leadership and guidance of shliach Rabbi Yitzchak Gorelik, who will also direct the new yeshiva.

Tech Meets Talmud in Chicago

It’s a tradition almost as old as the Chabad movement itself. Every year, Chabad-Lubavitch communities divide up the entire Talmud, each individual studying another tractate and celebrating a grand siyum when the effort is complete. Investment advisor Akiva Goodman enjoyed the study, but thought that some of the technology he uses in his workplace could help individuals track their learning and become inspired by the learning of others.
