Chabad House Opens in Kyoto as Judaism Blossoms in Japan

Japan’s famed cherry trees are in full blossom, tourists are streaming in by the trainload with ooh’s and aah’s over Kyoto’s traditional architecture and serene rock gardens, and the (often kosher) sake is as delightful as ever. Just before Passover, it’s the perfect time for Rabbi Dovid and Chaya Mushka Posner, and their infant son Menachem Mendel, to found the city’s first permanent Chabad House.

BREAKING NEWS: Measles Hits Crown Heights

The Measles epidemic which has plagued the Willimsburg and Rockland County Jewish communities has reportedly hit Crown Heights, with the first confirmed case having having been confirmed by the Department of Health. Doctors and physicians are urging residents to get their titres checked even if they have previously been vaccinated. Anyone who has not received their vaccinations are urged to get them immediately.

Hero French Pilot in Entebbe Hijack Dies at Age 95

A French pilot hailed for bravery during the hijacking drama targeting Jews on an Air France flight in 1976 has died aged 95, his son told AFP on Wednesday.

This past shabbos, Rafi Eitan passed away at age 92. Rafi was a legendary Mossad Spy who led the capture of Adolf Eichmann, was adviser to Prime Minister Menachem Begin, and served as a member on the Israeli Knesset. He visited New York and had an audience with the Rebbe in 1977.
