The heat wave that has melted the tri-state for the past week has broken a record in New York City. Temperatures hit 104 degrees in Central Park by early afternoon, eclipsing the record of 101 for July 22 set in 1957, and falling just 2 degrees shy of the city’s hottest day ever.

New Synagogue to Rise at Black Sea Port

Boris Gelman, vice chairman of the Jewish community of Sevastopol, announced that construction of a new synagogue will soon commence in the Ukrainian Black Sea port. Chief Rabbi Binymain Wolf, a Chabad-Lubavitch emissary in the region, will spearhead the project, which will be located next to the city’s Holocaust memorial.
