On Sunday ר”ח תמוז, ,June 13th, Bnos Chomesh Academy will be holding its first flea market event. Over the past 3 months, the school has collected new, and new-condition items that people have lying in their closets, but have no use for. Unopened sets of china, pots and pans in their original packaging, beautiful housewares and clothing some still sporting original tags were donated to Bnos Chomesh in anticipation of their sale.

Siyum Sefer Torah at Chabad of Lake Success

This past Sunday, June 6th, Chof Dalad Sivun, two Torah scrolls were dedicated to the Lake Success Chabad, directed by Rabbi Dovid & Chumy Ezagui. The ceremony began at Leanords of Great Neck, where more than 500 community members attended to celebrate this meaningful occasion. Of the two Torah’s one was new, being completed at the siyum, and the other Torah was a rededication of a Torah which is over 500 years old.

Bochurim Farbreng at Historic Shabbaton in Israel

KFAR CHABAD — Close to 2000 Bochurim, accompanied by 70 of their Hanhalah members, gathered in Kfar Chabad for the third annual National Shabbaton – Shabbos Hachanah to Gimmel Tammuz. Rabbis Moshe Wolberg of Manchester, England & Yossi Gurary of Michigan travelled to Israel exclusively to lead the Shiurim and Farbrengens with the Bochurim over Shabbos, which they did outstandingly.

Young Bochurim Tested in Halachic Knowledge

Rabbi Krinsky Visits Shluchim School in Yonkers

YONKERS, NY — The children of Cheder Yaldei HaShluchim Yonkers were treated to a special visit today by the Rebbe’s secretary, Rabbi Y. Krinsky. Rabbi Krinsky travelled to Yonkers, NY, where he spent time with the students and staff of the growing school for Shluchim’s children. The students greeted Rabbi Krinsky upon his arrival at the school with a large banner and enthusiastic singing.

Rubashkin Acquitted on all Child Labor Charges!

WATERLOO — Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin was found not guilty in Iowa state court of violating child labor laws today, Monday.

Shortly before 1:00 PM the jury indicated they had reached a verdict, they found Rubashkin not guilty on 67 counts of child labor violations involving 26 teenagers from Guatemala and Mexico who worked at the former Agriprocessors plant in Postville.

Sizable Turnout for ‘Meet the Candidates’

Last night close to 300 residents turned out for the pre-election meet the candidates meeting in Lubavitcher Yeshiva on Crown Street last night. As the event progressed the hall gradually filled, giving hope that the community is giving this election some serious consideration.

Among the usual flare-ups of emotions, and the need to quiet everyone down, meeting moderator Dr. Tuvia Tatik did a commendable job keeping things moving and giving candidates the opportunity to speak.

Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu Passes Away

Just as Jews around the country were preparing to gather to pray for Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu, word of his passing arrived.

Earlier in the afternoon, it was reported that his medical condition had severely deteriorated, and that prayers were sought.
